Hi Jacks
I've always seen you on the site ever since I joined - you feel like a wonderful elder sister who's just there!
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you. You deserve it.
Hope you stay on the board to keep us all motivated.

What utterly fabulous news! It couldn't happen to a nicer lady. :A
I'm in full agreement with the other posters' comments about you being a fountain of kindness and empathy, but the thing I most love about you Jacks is that you say the things that need to be said even if they are hard for people to hear.
Quite regularly I read through a thread and find that you are saying what I am thinking, or directly asking the difficult questions that people have been politely skirting around. The thing is, that you word it so warmly, and with such an evident desire to help, not castigate, that nobody minds a spot of tough love from you.
Btw I am awestruck at In Search Of Me's poem.Well done that woman! :T

 Cheers my lovely. You've got to celebrate those milestones. Each one brings you that much closer to getting there, and re-energises you to carry on the fight.
D'you know what? It's a bit weird being debt free actually honey. I don't think I've got my head round it fully yet. Debt busting has been my focus for so long now that it's very strange not to have any to bust!
I haven't even updated the £20,000 by Christmas 09 Challenge yet cos I'm thinking maybe I might carry it on - only saving instead of paying off debts. I don't yet know how much saving will be possible in our reduced circumstances though...
TBH I think perhaps the redundancy and worry about that has eclipsed the Debt Free-edness a little bit. I just have to keep remembering that we are undoubtedly in a much much much better position having paid off all that debt than we would be in now if we hadn't.
Our eldest was moving out but now he's decided to stay for a bit longer so we still have his money, plus Hubby was v surprised to find out that he's entitled to jobseekers for a while at least so we've got that as well - plus my earnings - and income protection insurance and mortgage protection insurance so we'll be Ok day to day so long as we're careful. (Especially as we no longer have the £250 per month cost of Hubby's commute to work any more!)
I'm going to try and stay out of the overdraft that we had to open in order to pay the bank what they wanted in settlement for our loan so this month wil be ti-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-ight while everything gets sorted out - but after that we'll have to see how we go.
I'm worried - but not too worried if you know what I mean.
It's lovely to have your support honeybun. And you know what this means...? I'll probably have a bit more time to lurk on your diary now and keep up with your doin's
Big thanks to the moggie for the dribble (I'll take it in the spirit that it was given!) Mulder sends his best. He's currently a bit over excited cos I'm burning a vanilla scented candle and he thinks there might be icecream about! He's so spoiled!

can understand why its tough but you are SOmuch in a better position now that you were! I would keep going with the challenge - reacon that you gotta be careful when you get there cossa feeling free and going loopy!
So is that spoiled cats getting even more prawns now!! Dottys dribble was a dribble of love...she;s purring happily next to me!

It's really good to see so many people making real attempts to get debt free. We have become a society of buy now pay laters! Listen to most 50+ people and they will say they don't believe in credit cards etc. If only we listened! We're hoping to be debt free by March 2010. Debt was approx £10,500.
We got two 0% visas one 16 months and one 14 months and transferred the higher rate visas to them and now we are just hammering cash at them (£150.00 pw). It will leave us a bit O/D each month but I figure that seeing the account go O/D will encourage us to spend less. My husband may lose his job in September which will put an end to the plan but if he doesn't we should for the first time in 15 years be debt free!
Good luck to everyone who is trying to do the same!0 -
Just wanted to say congrats on becoming DF. I can really relate to you saying that your wages hadn't been yours for a while. I feel exactly the same, that myself and OH's wages haven't been our own for about 7 years. I am supporting OH through uni at the moment but am hoping that we can pay off our debts when he finishes and enjoy life without credit.
