I think I need to try this one.
I like to beat myself up, although I have yet to find out what purpose it serves other than to make me miserable!Current debt - £16,300Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
Chevalier - that is a very good way of putting it, sometimes those stairs are very steep and seem never-ending!
And I love making lists, they seem to bring some order to the chaos - even if I never quite cross everything off, every item ticked makes me feel I've achieved something.
Lucy & Jacks - let's not beat ourselves up, as tempting and easy as it is! xxI really thought I just hit rock bottom. But today, it's like there's rock bottom, 50 feet of crap, then me. (Friends)

I've had depression/anxiety for roughly 5 years now. It got so bad, I couldn't even leave the house (I developed agoraphobia). It was absolutely nothing to do with money, or debt. I can't even put a finger on what caused it, which is very frustrating!
I'm now getting through the depression and agoraphobia, and I put it all down to meeting my OH. He really was the turning point in my life (sounds soppy I know, but very true)!
So I'm happy to support anybody else going through depression, I know what it's like, and still have it to a degree. But I am fighting it. Exercise is a big help for me. Just getting out for a walk in the fresh air works wonders.0 -
A lot of people have told me that exercise helps, but sometimes it's a struggle to get the energy to do it.
One I need to work on I think.

What about getting a yoga/pilates dvd cheap from Ebay and trying it at home where its all nice warm and you know you can do as much (or as little:o ) as you like? You also wont need to work up the motivation to leave the house or have to pay for it on a weekly basis.Debt Free - done

I've had depression for the last eight years on and off (but mostly on:o ) and one thing I can't stand is people telling me I just need to get over it. They have no idea what it's like and obviously aren't interested. I even lost my best friend because she took that attitude. As far as she was concerned it's time wasters and lazy people who 'claim' to suffer from stress and depression. Nice!
Anyways, I'm now fully medicated :j but that doesn't make life rosy all the time.
One thing that has made a difference is that I was diagnosed with having an underactive thyroid a couple of years ago. Once that got sorted I had more energy, lost weight and felt a bit better. It might be worth asking your doctor to chech your thyroid levels as it is something that can have quite a big impact and I have heard it can be related to depression in many cases.
I still have some really tough times but I like to think I'm getting there.Reality check - hit rock bottom on 15 Dec 2008 with unsecured debts of £29,136 and not enough money to live on
:j NOW DEBT FREE!!!! :jI try to take life one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once

I understand, I had many days when I couldn't motivate myself to go out for a walk, but now I have 2 dogs, they are my motivation! If I don't walk them, they are really hyper and wound up, not good :rotfl:0
