This 30% discount for FTBers is what is going to swing it for the tories
All those voters they will buy with this, they will all be planning to buy new build properties with the 30% discount
If Boros fails to deliver them they will want his heart on stake0 -
Any promise from Johnson isn't worth a jot. The bloke is a proven liar who would stab his gran in the back for power.0

A politicians pledge is worthless at the best of times. One coming from Boris is considerably less valuable than that."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0

With this pledge things are different
There are countless voters sitting on the fence and this 30% discount on new homes for first time buyers swings it
My prediction is Torres wins next week and it will be on the back of this pledge for 30% discount on new homes
Just wait and see the civil unrest that will happen if they don’t deliver on the 30% discount promise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

Other promises yes that’s true
But not this one, he absolutely HAS to keep this promise one way or another

"It is difficult especially to see how either a lifetime fixed rate mortgage or 30% discount for first time buyers - effectively a right to buy on private property - would work in practice.0 -

This is different to promising free internet and four day work week
This is an enormass promise that if you vote conservative then you can get 30% discount off a brand new house
This is huge, it can't be broken without huge reprisals0 -
This is the reason why many are voting for Boris0

No.
You are very excited about it and some of your demographic.
To many older people it has no relevance, and besides some of us have already voted.
A Tory majority was already odds on before this.
My guess is that any previous incentives available will be removed and prices may be inflated which will water it down from a real 30%. Only available on price inflated new builds.
I can see why it’s attractive to a certain section of one demographic but no more than free money for the waspi women or free long term care etc.
It’s not massive for the whole population e.g. existing home owners or those who still can’t afford to buy.
What you are saying is that bribes work and you may be right.0 -

Why does he HAVE to keep his promise. Manifestos are known for being works of fiction. Boris is regarded as being a compulsive liar. Promises on housing by Tories governments...

As for the fixed rate thing, there's not much point to a lifetime fix on a 95% LTV loan. The interest rate would be horrendous."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

:rotfl: Outside of the MSE bubble most people haven't even heard about this. I've only seen it mentioned here and nobody I work with has heard about it. I think you need to calm down, and I confidently predict it will be a damp squib.0
