For point 3, it may be deliberate if it's a delivery vehicle as it means the driver will be getting out on the safe side of the vehicle. In a similar way I believe the Finnish post office had such vehicles to avoid where possible drivers having to get out in the cold winters there.

More BEV buses for Ireland. But the scheme seems a bit expensive.
Electric Bus Boom: Northern Ireland Buying 100 Electric Buses
The UK’s Translink has announced that it is excited about the Department for Infrastructure providing £88 million in funding to buy 100 zero-emission electric buses as well as EV charging infrastructure to support them.
Translink says this “will be transformational in delivering a zero emission transport future for Northern Ireland.”Wrightbus will be supplying the electric buses. Being the UK, the buses will be a mixture of single-deck buses and double-deck buses.
All 100 electric buses should be in service no later than the summer of 2024.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

So 100 buses is £40M
If the other half of the money is EV charging infrastructure for across NI, then that is likely a good investment. It may also include some infrastructure that will facilitate EVs other than public buses.4 -

Just re-inforcing the local distribution grid to establish bus charging locations, may allow for other EV charging infrastructure to piggyback at a later date.
So silly, but I really like it when the local BEV buses go past when I'm out walking on a wet day, as you can hear the tyres, due to the lack of any diesel rumbling.Mart. Martyn1981 said:Good point. I read it as charging infrastructure for those buses, but if it supports more buses (in the future) and other EV charging, then it does get better.
It's just, if I ran a bus company, and decided to go towards electric buses, I would upgrade the infrastructure at Grumpy_town bus garage so that the whole fleet could convert to electric and then migrate the fleet across as vehicles reached their natural replacement cycle.1
