    Anyhoo,
This just popped up in my NEWS feed, 10 EV's coming in 2020 .....

    https://www.wired.co.uk/article/electric-cars-2020
In 2019, one overriding theme was abundant: the rate of release of full-EV models is increasing exponentially.

We are quickly coming to the point where “mild hybrid” versions are seen as a non-committal sop to hybridisation, leaving the real choice between proper hybrid or pure electric power. And in 2020, things are going to kick up a gear.

Crucially, the major manufacturers have had time to catch up with Tesla – which is bringing out its Roadster in 2020 – and are finally rolling out production EVs in every price bracket that are properly developed and well constructed. In short, 2020 will be the year the EV arrived in style.

Not a policy, but an article looking at the development of a policy, regarding the phasing out of FF cars.

Want To Ban New Gas & Diesel Cars? Look To Sweden To See How It’s Done
What would it take for a country to ban new gasoline and diesel cars? Look no farther than the government of Sweden, which is in the midst of a study to offer proposals on just such a topic.

    The inquiry is to:

Analyze the conditions for introducing a national ban on sales of new gasoline and diesel cars

Determine how to exempt vehicles that run on renewable fuels and electric hybrid vehicles from such a ban

Deconstruct how to bring about an EU-wide ban on sales of new gasoline and diesel cars and the phasing out of fossil fuels in the EU

Make the necessary legislative proposals, albeit not in the area of taxation, where the inquiry may only analyse measures and conduct impact analyses

Propose a year by which fossil fuels should be phased out in Sweden, and the measures needed for this to happen in the most cost-effective manner possible

It's interesting that the wired article doesn't even mention the model Y, despite it being planned to be a higher volume product than all but the ID3. Well, possibly more than that as well.
    8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.

    I missed that completely, Doh!

Perhaps they don't consider the TMY to be one of the top 10 most 'exciting' EVs for 2020 release, as it's 'just' an inflated TM3? Or perhaps they forgot about it as it's probably one of the most important BEV's (in terms of demand and supply) to come out so far?

I would consider the Seat Mii and Skoda Citygo EVs to be much more "exciting". Below £20000 for a brand new EV brings them into the price range where normal people can afford them, rather than toys for rich people.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

It will be interesting to see if the availability of such models reverses the trend back from bigger cars to smaller cars.

I'd prefer a small model that had been engineered from the beginning as an EV. Isn't the new VW platform a bit too big though? I'd hope they would eventually produce a small car platform too.

It's getting quite difficult to keep up with developments.

They're both just rebadges of the e-Up. Which isn't a bad thing if those badges are cheaper but since they're built in the same factory then in volume terms, which is what I find most interesting, it doesn't add to the total supply.

    That's amusing

Let's say I buy my parents panels in South Africa from them but it stays on their roof
Is my home just outside London which has no solar panels, powered by solar?

You seem to be a big fan of double counting. Either they belong to your parents, where they can take ownership of the production, and count it towards whatever they like, or they're still yours, and yes, you can say you're using whatever has been produced by solar panels in SA. You're not even connected to them, but they're contributing the the planet's solar electric production, which you can offset against your own usage.
Deploy a million slow 3KW chargers

We've already got millions. They're called 3 pin sockets. EV chargers from these are generally 10 amp, not 13, so they're 2.4kW really.
There already exists a £25k reasonable sized BEV in the form of an e golf

40kWh Leaf must be around this too, and will go further.

Plus MG ZS and Zoe 40khw, which can be bought for a good bit less than £25k.
