  • Checking in a bit late today.

Checked banking and moved pennies - all well as far as I can see.
Did the shopping. Not much as we are off on holiday next Saturday. Mostly a small bit of veg (will freeze anything that isn't used).
Lentil soup for the Boy's lunches in the slow cooker.
Lunch and dinner from the freezer. Well, mostly. Had to buy some mushrooms for tonight
Phoned my sister in law to check she's OK and doesn't need anything. She's back for an out patient appointment on Wednesday but has someone to take her.
Lots to do next week so have to make a plan.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

CLF - I'm not sure it's possible to get a cold from a flu jab? Aren't they two different viruses? Though freely admit science not one of my strong points (except plants!) It does sound as though your immune system has taken a huge hammering. Time to build up those good gut bacteria colonies.

I think I didn't write it very well - I have a sniffle that started before the jab, and I think the jab made me a bit tired and shaky. I feel ok today :)

    Afternoon all!

Thank you again for all your health well wishes. I'm feeling ok today - just a bit tired from not sleeping great at mil's (room is a bit light and strange bed). My ENT appointment went really well yesterday. Folks who've known me on here a while might recall that I started getting vertigo issues about 2.5 years ago. Well the consultant was very sure and positive this time what the cause is - and it ties in to my own suspicions. I need some vestibular rehab but this should really help and sort it out so I'm really pleased. I also got the results back from my most recent bloods and everything is fine so essentially, unless something really odd is going on, it's just a case of resting, eating well (I agree re the gut bacteria Foxgloves - hence my interest in the sauerkraut!) and getting back to normal!

Today I came back from mil's to find that the allotment key has arrived (joy!). OH and I drove up there to take a look. It seems that we have inherited some raspberries and something that is either blueberries or blackcurrants (no leaves left sadly, just spindly stalks). Also 2 chairs and a watering can. The back of the plot is overgrown with what I though was brambles but turned out to be escaped raspberries. OH very tired so we didn't hang round but I am thinking of the plan of action.

I did my good turn for the day as well. A lorry had broken down at the end of our road so I took the chap a cup of tea. He'd been trying to fix it for 2 hours so he was very grateful!

This evening I am drawing a picture that I'm going to use to make into a t-shirt for my dad for Christmas. He had his own pirate radio station in the 60's so I'm designing a logo shirt for him with his secret DJ name on the back :D

    Today's mse bits:
:heartpuls L/D from stores - done
    :heartpuls B at mil's - done
:heartpuls Draw t-shirt design - drawing done. Now needs scanning into the pc for more work
:heartpuls Think about allotment - done
:heartpuls Pop washing on rads to get it dry - done
:heartpuls Unreliable FBmarket person came - £20 in family kitty - done
    :heartpuls Washing away - done
:heartpuls Bit of knitting - done
    :heartpuls Early night - done

    Have a lovely evening all

Lovely idea about the T-shirt, CLF. And exciting to have a look around the allotment.

Great price on the overlocker, DNMS. Mr F has also had a good deal on some or other music gizmo which was delivered today. he too had, had it in his basket for ages, awaiting two things 1)The opening of his sealed pot & 2) A cheaper price. Half pay sounds a bit scary m'dear, hope you feel more up to making some decisions soon.

2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Hope Mr F is loving his very sensible and totally exciting purchase :D

In my defence (and also the excuses my mind is now telling me to justify this expense!) I have £64 I've earnt recently from sewing so that brings down the actual cost a little to my pocket!

It is a little and I've been on the edge of freaking out about it all day (don't know why as I knew it was coming but came as a shock for it to be a reality). But it's not helpful thinking so as my oh says - it's fine, I just need to work on the plan and find something else and I was out of work for a while a few years ago and no one died. Best I think about getting on with going forward rather than keep thinking about my last/current job

Hi have not really been keeping up as am busy/tired/unmotivated/fat up/ but also happy content and coasting waiting to pass the December goal post.
I am busy working which is good.
Tired as 'The Darkness' is getting to me.
Unmotivated as even though I have made extra money in Nov, it is all gone, buying food, gas and what not.
I am fat up with poverty and not being able to replace bigger items with something of quality - even over time, as things just keep breaking at the moment. Prize example was my bed where the side collapsed - it turned out to be laminated wood - instead of one piece - so now it is reinforced, glued and supported by a pile of old encyclopaedias. But I want a smaller bed and new mattes so I want to start with buying a new mattress and then a smaller used bed frame, but not til after a bunch of other stuff is sorted.

What do I do to keep on top of things:
I try to limit my driving, yesterday I drove to go shopping and to go to w*cks to get 'emergency repair kit for bed' and to go to Ald1. Have 2 extra 40 min drives though this weekend to get uni son beck and forth to train station. Great to see him, he paid for his own train ticket - an other thing I would have liked to pay for him.
Don't have money or time really to do an extra swim today.
    No going out this weekend.
    No extra shopping!

So now I need to update my spending diary and make a full spending plan and meal plan through to Christmas including stock for most of January, as get paid already on the 19th. And my organisational skills just aren't great.

    Happy Sunday
OK I have changed my mind:
My prob is def as always - over commitment. I have actually navigated through a month of large payments, started to stock up on store items and not lost the plot. It is not really poverty - I have food for the rest of the week, a couple of £ for an emergency, (but it is still to close to call)

Thanks for your patience what I wanted to say is that my spending has come out under budget and that is including the car repair - so in terms of a budget - it actually worked. :T:T:T

  • Morning all :hello:

We have guests coming today so this morning is a bit of prep before they are here later, we won't go out (for food, but likely will for a walk) but I need to make sure there is stuff in to avoid the temptation. So :
Already have bread dough in BM to make garlic bread
Mince defrosting for something mince based
Will make a cake for pudding

    Will also:

Research some food items on line I need to incorporate in to my diet and see the cheapest place to buy them
    Load of washing
    Prep bags for school tomorrow
    Make some sausage rolls
    Do some paper work
Meal plan for the week, hoping not to have to shop until the end of this week, making it 10 day gaps.
Research a final item for new kitchen

Have a good day all. Purps.
  • Morning

I now have so many lists of things I need to do next week that I'm going to have to make a list of my lists!

I'm going to have a quietish day today and really get going in earnest tomorrow.

    So far

    Checked the banking
Had breakfast - using up some scones from the freezer
Dinner and lunch are in the fridge - Himself is preparing the veg as we speak
I have to e mail the Boy to get him to bring down some plastic containers and make another kind of soup for him
Must email the lady we rent our holiday place from to let her know when we're arriving
Just about to phone our friends to make arrangements for picking up their brother next Saturday

    Have a good day
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    Morning all :)
Ditty, it might be worth looking on freecycle or similar for a bed? Or a cheap one on local FB selling site? I think the dark, wet weather is getting us all down!

Just back from a boot sale / market, but only non-business spend was £1 for potatoes :)
I have also walked the dog and updated business paperwork and spending diary :A
    Still to do:
Clean up and put away the items I bought for selling on Done, I have put them in the car ready to go to the shop tomorrow
Some cleaning :( I have fussy relatives of OH's visiting the week after next, so better start cleaning now, as they have 3 whole days to explore messy corners :rotfl:And don't worry, OH will definitely be cleaning as well!! Well, I wiped down the banister rails, and the acorn thing at the bottom ... (technical term - my house is Edwardian, and has lots of[STRIKE] dust traps[/STRIKE] period features :rotfl:

Ordered wine as I don't have much in at the moment - to keep visitors happy (and not inspecting the quality of the housekeeping too closely :rotfl:), and there will be lots of other visitors over the Christmas period. Also thinking about what to feed them. Naturally they have 'dietary requirements'. Wondering if stuff from the freezer would work...

I have 2 ebay items to pack ready for posting tomorrow (Done, but I will probably post on Tuesday as I notice another item with bids is due to finish tomorrow.
Some bits to list on FB local selling site Listed 2, one has already gone this afternoon. Only £8, but better than nothing :)
HM soup made yesterday for lunch
Dinner will be pot roasted pheasant Currently in the oven, used up celery that was chopped and frozen as past its best, potatoes from the market and home grown garlic :) Also made an apple and raisin crumble using apples from the fruit bowl that no longer looked very appetising. But there is no way I would waste them!!!
Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Morning all

Ditty - sorry things are difficult at the moment. I second Dawn re Freecycle and FB market for a bed frame. There's always lots of furniture going on FB. Even if it's not what you were wanting eventually, it's hopefully structurally sound.

Bit of a grey old day here. OH to be working again tonight. Day 3/6. It's going to be a shock to the system for him!

    My things today:
:heartpuls B/L/D from stores - done
:heartpuls Charge phone in work - done
:heartpuls Do shopping on my lunchbreak. OH to pick it up - done
:heartpuls Walk to and from work - done
:heartpuls Heating off all day - done
:heartpuls Work on dad's t-shirt design - done
    :heartpuls Check PMP - done
:heartpuls Autumnal decoration as came across a bag full of huge pine cones that I picked up earlier in the year. Now in a basket that mil was getting shot of. There is a tree by work that has pine cones the size of your hand. Maybe I could sell them? - done

    Not a lot doing today
