  • I've done nothing today, aside from drag myself I to the shower.

Tea was pasta and pesto. The 'cheap' A1D1 pesto is much nicer than the 'expensive' one they do.
'cheap' = creamier, cheese taste, had moisture and coated the pasta well.
'expensive' = dry, sat on the pasta rather than became part of it; possibly got unlucky with my jar.
I know which one I'm buying again 😁

Definitely a duvet day... aah, cheese, I remember it well lol...  :)
Sorry no wooden bed frame, but I am a bit far away to get one to you.... and no car! You've probably already done a search on freecycle or those kind of sites? Or, perhaps give a charity, like BHF, a phone call? I don't know if they would tell you over the phone, at your nearest one, might be possible to find one that way?

Or, way out there alternative, get Tombo to skip-dive for long pieces of wood and knock up the frame size you want.... he sounds like he enjoys a project...

  • Not sure if vegan cheese has improved since I tried it 😶 quite possibly has as more people are vegan now.

I've got a wooden frame, adds a lot onto the overall size of the bed. Appears it's divan beds I need to look at and I don't have the spare money at the moment. It's something I can look at when the bookcase is done; all the books are under the bed 🙈 and I would want the divan to have drawers either side for extra storage.

Priority this / next year is the lounge.
-- need to get the real fire in before changes in the law.

First quarter of 2021 is a new front door, as it's a wooden one.
-- not found one I like yet.

Then I can think about the second bedroom 2021/2022.
-- built-in wardrobe, folding sofa bed etc.

    Then the main bedroom 2023.
-- built-in wardrobe, new bed, pretty fire etc.

    Bathroom / kitchen 2025+
-- plenty of time to save up! Also gives me time to finish cleaning my credit history and decide whether to move or stay.

  • Great planning Babs. I’m waiting for the argos xmas sale to get my divan bed. My last couple of beds have been silent night half price in the sale. They do bases without mattresses too if you don’t need a new mattress

    Thanks Ren and Skinty.
The cheese has definitely improved then as it smelt like, and had the texture of, plasticine years ago 😬
The mattress is fine as I only got the bed when moving into the last flat.

Still trying to recharge my batteries, but want to make a start on the rest of the lounge woodwork as I'm tired of looking at the dark varnished cupboards, skirting, door etc 🙈

  • Definite improvement on taste, however, not so great on the budget as prices are naturally high.... :(

I can relate, don't like dark wood, I much prefer natural or 'blond' looking wood, bounces the light around (and dark shows the dust more!) ;)

I like dark brown (dark chocolate colour) that's what my 'wood' furniture and furniture is. It's just with the dark wood furniture, the mahogany units, the lighter window surrounds and a different lighter colour floor, it's too many different wood colours 🙈

Will have a chat with TomBo this week and see what ideas he has for the different rooms.
-- originally, it was down to me to design the rooms and accessories for them, now we are in its suddenly become a shared thing 🤭

I've put the heating on for 10 minutes tonight and it's toasty in here. Within about 30 minutes it's almost too hot and the heating is switched off, not brave enough to try for an hour or more as it was like a sauna viewing it mid-December.

Haven't much planned for tonight aside from a shower, feet up and relaxing.

Moved a bit of money to savings.

Had biscuits for my tea, having yoghurt for pudding.

I love your plans. You always give me ideas. I do hope you are rested. All those plans for fires sound brilliant. Im a central heating lady wouldnt even know how to have a fire put in. lol. Im thinking of painting my kitchen cupboards in the summer? I could risk paying for new doors to kitchen cupboards but i am too scared to spend due to state of the economy.

    Thank you SW.
You know SH has painted her kitchen doors / drawers? She had discussed it in detail in her diary, it's saved a lot of money and revamped her kitchen.

The quick description to have the fire done is take the boards off the chimney breasts, sweep both of them, send a liner down to save having to do any repairs, stick the fire in and the pipe links to the liner. Possibly £3k per fire place.
The cheap option is get a gas one and have it figured. Possibly £500 per fire place.

I've watched too many DIY / build from scratch home TV shows 😁
