  • Oddly enough, the reason I won't each fish is because I've kept them before. I've been vegi and vegan, which was hilarious as I didn't each much veg at the time just a few basics like spuds, carrots, cabbage, onions, peppers etc 😂
Ha ha! Slight fail on the veg - not quite the 'eat the rainbow'.... hope you have a better night...

  • Thank you SH and Ren.

I know things are so much better since moving. I'm itching to do things in the garden and get the lounge units finished, but will get that underway soon as I would like the lounge finished this year.

I'm not sure if I said when I collected the magazine's I was given a bag of homegrown pears. TomBo made a pear tarte and homemade custard, been eating the leftovers today.

I've pottered around the garden, picked some tomatoes and made a soup with them. Later I will have it with some garlic bread.

Received the renewal pack for my breakdown cover, that's £45 next month, plus £125 for the tax. Will get my MOT booked in for the middle of next month, just in case it needs anything doing; haven't found anything obvious.

Washing up done, watered the garden earlier and I'm spending the rest of today relaxing on the sofa and working my way through some of the veg mags.

2 days until payday, £1 in the bank 🤭🤭

  • Hope your toe is better. The magazines sound nice and glad that Tombo's birthday went well. I hope you are resting. It is chilly down here.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Thanks SW, I appreciate you popping by.
Sadly not better, pain has spread up my foot (all normal for me, don't panic!).
I am snuggled on the sofa, music playing and reading my mags. It's supposed to be -1 tonight, already feels close to that and I've got a blanket and hot water bottle for comfort 😁

  • -1!!! Wow already?! I must admit I put our heating on briefly today

  • Your body is definitely saying slow down and rest up a bit, you were probably over-tired, and that's why you forgot where the bed was in relation to the foot! Ouch... Nice to read Tombo is spoiling you with some treats, and I can see those mags generating lots of ideas for the new growing season..., :D he he, and lots of work for Tombo!

  • I know SH! I still find the concept of having GCH strange, but 40 years (42 if I count the first rental flat where it didn't work) without it, is going to take some getting used to!
I automatically reach for a blanket rather than put the heating on, which is how we keep the gas bill down.
The GCH at the last flat was good, it had a button which could be pressed and the heating would go on for an hour.
I'm slowly getting used to being able to have a shower whenever I feel like it. I really like the idea of those waterfall / overhead showers, but I would never be out of it!

Ren, the bed is on the right side of the room, I stumped my left foot. No, I can't work out how I did it either 😂

Thoroughly enjoyed my evening yesterday and have been reading another magazine today. I do need to plant my onion sets in a bit, hopefully about 11am it should have warmed up enough for me to go out with a coat on 😁

Seeing the clear blue sky is very deceptive and the temperature appears to be about 1° less over this side. Winter will be fun as there's a greater chance of snow!

  • It’s blue skies & sunshine here but apart from making a cup of tea I’m still in bed. Too cold to venture out 🥶 I refuse to put my heating on in September!

  • I don't blame you Skinty, stay in until you are better.

I've got a blanket on top of the summer duvet, but the bedroom is 'snug' being galley style, gets a bit stuffy overnight with two adults.

What I am curious about is how long I can get away with no heating on, as I've never lived in anything this old.
The back (kitchen / bathroom / second bedroom / hall) has the sun now (it's creeping about a third into the front), but later the front (lounge / first bedroom) will have it.
I still remember how hot this flat was when I viewed it in December because the heating was on in the day 🙈

I've not noticed any drafts / air leaks, even when we have had the winds. I closed the window vent in the bedroom and two in the lounge not long after moving in, although I closed the third one last night as my sofa is on the wall where the windows are. They remain open in all the other rooms and I usually have a few windows open all day.

My cat has just gone off for a sleep in the sun. So strange how she knows it's here when she has slept since I got up.
