Thank you SH, I got so lucky with the mags and I've months to get through them, soak up the knowledge ready for next year. The garden will be good 😁
The last few months I feel like I've made steps forward, rather than treading water with great ideas keeping me afloat.
I've set up a small DD to pay into my S&S ISA each month. Done it as cash so I can balance my pots and buy into each pot as and when, rather than being tied to set pots each time.
I'm leaving a little bit of cash to cover fees / charges, that way it's not being taken from my ISA or pension.
Think I've got the future sorted out and am happy with my plans.
Just need to get my spreadsheets sorted out for next year, towards the end of this one, and hopefully I will have a balance for now, short-term and medium-term.
If I'm missing anything, please let me know.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
I am impressed Babs, you've started all over again from scratch, dragged yourself out of debt, moved a long way, saved, got yourself a lovely place with a great growing area, doing it up, still saving, gardening, working, AND sorting out your retirement. And, even more important, you have a caring bloke, who enjoys gardening/projects just as much as you do, sharing your goals.
Unless you start your own business/second job/paying hobby, I can't see what else you could do, to make a better life for yourself and your OH? The only other thing I can possibly think of is direct dabbling in stocks and shares, rather than via an ISA, or, invest in a local business as a silent partner and hopefully reap some profit (not in hospitality/catering though) - ha! That's 2 things...."...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Thank you Ren.
I'm contemplating my own business, but that fits in with the wider goal of having land and working PT.
I've ruled out direct shares, really cannot be bothered with capital gains tax, but it's not as if I earn enough to fill cash AND S&S ISA to justify buying single shares. I don't even generate enough interest on my accounts to be worried about the personal savings allowance 😂
I don't realistically have money to buy into a business as everything is earmarked. It's also not my kind of thing.
I opened another savings account yesterday. Pays 3% interest on upto £1k, it's like a mini regular saver as it's a maximum £50pm. That's going to be a small savings pot with no specific purpose.
Stumped my toe on the bed and drew blood, hopefully I will be agile enough later to see the damage 😁
£5 in the bank, 5 days until payday.
Having the big pie tonight, lunch is roast lamb and salad (home grown) sandwich.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
You see, I knew you had covered all your bases!
Ouch! Did that so many times on my old bed as it had solid wood legs... now have a divan and softer corners...
For a split second I thought you had meant home grown lamb and had missed you saying you were rearing your meat! Then brain clicked you meant salad... must get more sleep....

Hope your toe is feeling better. I know when I stubbed mine on the rusty screw the other week it was agony. How can something so small hurt so much 😩

It's a solid chunky pine wood bedframe. Managed to look at the damage to my still sore / stinging / throbbing little toe and I've a lovely cut straight across. Mopped the bathroom floor as I left a trail along it 🙈
I couldn't eat what I've raised Ren!
Just have to grab the good interest rates where we can Skinty. It would make a good pot for your shed fund and would boost the savings each month 🤗
That account is fully up and running today.
TomBo enjoyed his gifts 😁

I'm going through my no sleep phase again and am up several nights a week, in the lounge with my cat for company. Sometimes I just can't switch off from the day, other times I can't get comfy and keep turning in bed.
Hopefully later this year, start of next, I will get another bed or a chair / sofa bed for the second bedroom.
Somehow managed to squeeze an apple in earlier, which I probably shouldn't have after the pie 😁Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -

Oh dear, maybe some improvised 'bump cushions' would help?

Neither could I! Once I got goldfish, I couldn't face eating fish - doh! That's when the vegetariansm started...

Somehow managed to squeeze an apple in earlier, which I probably shouldn't have after the pie 😁, that can prompt me to lose sleep, so I hope this is only a temporary blip for you...

Oddly enough, the reason I won't each fish is because I've kept them before. I've been vegi and vegan, which was hilarious as I didn't each much veg at the time just a few basics like spuds, carrots, cabbage, onions, peppers etc 😂Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4
