I think honey/maple syrup registers as sugar in terms of blood sugar. I was thinking of a fruit compote. I will keep you posted

Wishing you well for the exam results MF. Hello poppet. I am so sorry the job is still the same with regard to the nastiness. There is always one toe rag in every workplace, they bully as they have no life and always pick on the nicest people they are jealous of. You just focus on  your lovely gardens and remember they are LOSERS.

Ooooh you always do fab stuff in the garden and have inspired me, keep going Madame. In one year my garden is getting much better and i try to do a smidgen of what you do. Stay strong ok. Back in a few weeks.

    Thanks DIA and SW

SW my previous posts explain the college saga and where the course wasn't what they said it was, hence no actual exam or qualification.

I've started making headway with 2nd home again.

Had a great jam making session last weekend and I'll definitely be doing various jams with the fruits next year, plus puddings.

Yesterday was the local show and I entered fruit, veg (3rd), herbs and spices (commended), jam (2nd) and cake (commended). I've learnt a lot for next year and already planning for next year!

Well done on the garden show results 🏆

Hope A is ok after her mini stroke.

What sort of jam did you make? 😋

Thank you Jwil, Skinty and DIA

Please accept my apologies for the absence, again.

The show was a lot of fun and definitely had an air of WI about it. We've nearly finished the jam and I need to do daily harvests of raspberries to ensure I've a load more for next year!

I've recorded my lymphatic assessment, just need to send it and the paperwork to my tutor for marking. Once that's sent I'll have a few breather days before starting reflexology (3 courses I'm booked on to cover face, hands and feet!). I'm probably not going to train in anything else after this, just refresher courses, as I've taken a lot on over the last 21 months.

Weather has been too hot for progress at 2nd home, however I know what needs to be done and how to finish it 🤭

As for other news. I've a small bucket list of things I want to learn / do. Ticked the first off due to 2nd home (jam, pickles, baking, flavoured oils / sauces just need to learn breads).

Next up.... I'm the proud owner of a couple of new instruments. I purchased a semi acoustic first, a week later I purchased an electric. I'm organising lessons with a local tutor and in the interim self-teaching and having stuff return to me while I practice; was being taught classical as a kid, self-teaching another style and stopped after a few years, messed about with that and other stringed instruments for 20 years stopped, and after a 10 year break I'm back playing 😁

After this will be keyboard / piano and then two languages.

Well done on completing all the training & learning to play instruments (guitar?). I have no musical talent and am tone deaf but my DS played guitar and violin. I also have no talent for languages but wish you good luck. Any idea which ones you fancy learning?

Pickles, bread and flavoured oils are things I want to master too...

    Thank you Skinty and DIA

You guessed right! I've also a third (fully acoustic) I found in a skip a few years ago, just a cheap one. Hubby got me classical strings for that but they take an age to stretch/ stay in tune. Hopefully I can learn the blues on it while waiting to get a resonator as it's a totally different tuning for that 🤭
    - somehow I'm cramming about 15h pw practice in.

I popped in a music shop, got one of the lads to demo a couple I was interested in and purchased one that had the sound I was after. The following week I went in for an electric, same lad demo'd the ones I was interested in and then I played the one I went on to buy; I'd gone from not playing to playing classical, rock and music from movies in a week 🤣

I'll have to book practice rooms occasionally as I can't play at proper volume in the flat and I need to see if I've still got my voice; again not one I want to try at home.

There's quite a big 'live music' scene in my County and Scotland in general.

It will be two Mediterranean languages, slightly cheating as one I started in School and the other for my previous holidays. Oddly enough I occasionally mix those and English when speaking.

I've an old book for my traditional recipes as it covers seasonal cooking, growing and eating. Basic oils are getting your herbs or spices and add them to an oil, downside is you can only store it for a week or so, longer involves heating/ boiling then adding to sterile jars / bottles.
