I'm still behind on keeping up with my diary and everyone else's. Think I'm crammed too much into my week.
I am pottering away at 2nd home, sowed spinach and kale seeds earlier this week. Tidied up a bit and pottered this morning and desperately want my patio done so I can then get the remainder of veg section finished. Fingers crossed everything will be finished this year so it's just grow / weed / harvest next year.
- my apple tree has been very fruitful this year, hubby keep baking Italian pies and making apple butter.
No news on when I'll be having music lessons yet. I'm saving £70pm to cover them and hoping the guy does a discount if I buy in bulk, assuming his tuition style meets what I'm after; he has previously advertised this.
- I've actually got 2 online tutors who do some free courses and more paid ones. I'm slowly working my way through the one guy (US) and will intermingle the other guy (UK).
Hubby was going to get me a keyboard for 50 cake day later this year, til he saw the price! It's actually piano I want to learn, but a bit unfair on my neighbours 😉 also there's no way of getting a grand piano in the flat 🤭
3rd home update, I passed my course, certificate just received and printed. Having a few weeks of no study before knuckling down for my last three courses.
My physical health is absolutely atrocious. Near constant colds, permanent pulled muscles / easily pulled muscles and it's fast approaching my winter decline date. While the aroma gel is great for my pain, it doesn't help with fatigue.
As always loads going on but I've now got my feet up.

Thank you DIA and Skinty
No spare pies to post anywhere. While I could personally deliver they'd be eaten before leaving the train station 🙈
When winter comes I'll be inside a lot and wanted to do more than veg out / hibernate this year. I'll do what I can at 2nd home as I so want it up and running properly.
- my seedlings have started sprouting.
I popped to my usual music shop after 3rd home. Enquired, got demo'd some elec pianos and one was delivered a few hours later (discounted by a third). I honestly did not think any would be within a realistic budget.
After my usual string practice I turned my attention to the ivories, got used to the sound each key makes, figured out how the notes move along from one section to another and quickly transferred the classical piece from strings to keys, made up part of a tune and sussed a certain shark tune too. I've selected quite a few things I'd like to learn; again different genres.
- I'll definitely need lessons as I've played more today than all the tinkering time as a kid added up. I'm also thinking I should start with some classical as I'm more likely to pick that upbwhile learning the basics and that will open up jazz and others.
So far, nothing about reading music has come back to me yet, but that will be covered during lessons, books and online learning.
I'm content and have varied hobbies and interests on the go now.

I've been sat at 2nd home for a few hours waiting for the sun to reach where I'm going to be working; still not where I need it. Found a 2ft sun spot to eat breakfast when I got here. I'm also listening to music, helps release natural happiness.
Hubby gifted me a harmonica the other day. I looked at the box for a few days before opening and having a go. Definitely not one for the flat! He's never played one, nor does he know why he had it, but thought I now could be a one-man band.
Still no news on when I'll be starting F2F guitar lessons.
I have got a free piano course I'm working through. It starts with music theory (music reading), but also teaches the piano note layout. I've a few sheet music books and have been using that to supplement my course, helps to see notes in their entirety and figure them out. I'm slowly progressing my classical piece. Still tinkering and attempting to make left hand work with and independently from right 🙈
- for now I've technically got enough knowledge to read guitar music, by the end of the course I'll be playing piano at a beginner level.
First impression of this course / tutor are favourable and assuming it stays this way I'll go for his paid classes to get me up to intermediate (USA so I need the self-paced group video classes with me recording / submitting my assessments for feedback only $40pm / £30 ish). I'm saving for these lessons.
Next month I'll be starting reflexology training.

OMG this is very weird...DD was JUST talking to me about a boy who sits outside every lunch and plays his harmonica and we are watching a cartoon on tv where the character is playing a harmonica and then I came on here and you mentioned it. Sorry just felt like sharing that
I was telling her how my grandad used to play the harmonica and I love the sound of it as it's so nostalgic for me
I did piano lessons many years ago and loved it but I left that school and didn't carry it on. Think I got to grade 3 and gave in, I would also love to pick that up again one day.Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. That is freaky, but also strangely reassuring when those moments occur DFW321.
Honestly go for it! Elec pianos are not too expensive and there's so many online courses/ learning videos to keep costs right down.
I've snapped up books that will be used in the courses (used from 3bay, plus a few higher levels), also got some other classical books, a bit of jazz, blues and some random scores I look up and print.
- I'm learning classical to gain a good solid level of understanding and playing allowing me to divert and progress into my own style.
I read music for fun, figure out what the notes are and attempt to play a section while reading it too. Even if I only get one or two notes right and it sounds like what I'm trying to learn it boosts my confidence; self taught happy b'day, read and play a bit of classical and learning what key is what note.
I've not been able to play my guitars due to badly pulled muscles, can't lift the cases to get them out. However, I'll ask hubby to take one out the weekend for me to practice as I miss playing them; my classically strung still goes out of tune as the strings are not stretched yet.
Had homegrown butternut squash soup this week, absolutely delicious. I've 8 left to harvest.
Tomorrow I'll be starting my reflexology training as I've a huge gap between appointments.
Lastly, I got made perm in the day job, positive side is I don't have to fret about money while still building my business.
