Sorry to hear that your BF lost his job. I'm sure he'll find something soon and in the meantime there are many jobs to do in the house and garden as you say. It is so important to be debt free as it stops the blips in life turning into major disasters. I'm sure your plan will work just fine.

    Pizza sounds good :)

Edited to say your studio sounds fantastic and I am very jealous :)
If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

    Buffer fund 0/100
    Debt Free (again) 25/072025
  • Thank you DIA.
One of the negative things I do is plan for the worst, when it happens I pick the relevant plan and run with it.

I'm so pleased to have my studio up and am looking forward to seeing what I produce.

TomBo sent me some money, I offered to return it but he insisted I keep it. I've now cleared most of the CC as there's no CT this month either.
    - he's enough of his last wages left to last a while and will be due a little bit of holiday pay too.

Only bills left to pay out of my last month's wages are the bank fee and minimum CC payment. My CC is very odd as it takes a minimum payment even if I've paid more than that, only time it doesn't is when I clear it in full.
    - CC will be cleared when I get paid again.

Moved some money to savings as I'm keeping to my start of the month routine.

I started eating like I was back in the office, so breakfast and lunch costs £5 a week. I was enjoying myself too much and knew it would be hard to revert back when the time came, so thought I may as well revert while I'm still homeworking.
    - oats, banana and milk smoothie for breakfast.
    - crackers and something for lunch.

£234 in the bank, 25 days until payday.

Sorry to hear about tombo’s job it’s good that you can manage without the money. How would he feel about living off your wage ? Maybe you could hire him out for gardening 🤔

    Thank you Skinty.
TomBo has traditional views, thinks he should provide for me and I shouldn't be working.

He's got enough to keep himself occupied with pottering with 3 gardens and assisting the next building neighbour with their one, but as and when he wants to, rather than on demand. He wouldn't go for being a gardener as he has his own health issues.

Hopefully as there's loads to do he will see his contribution can be made in other ways and he will realise there's time to do things he likes too.

I've done another survey. Decided to use it as a way of defining when the work day is over and the time is mine.
    - I will save the points up and put them to good use.

  • Hey Babs - I think Tombo will see the job loss as a blessing in disguise as he wasn't happy there, the amount of work he puts in fixing and building stuff, gardening, etc would otherwise cost a lot, and now he has a break to catch up with it all. I hope he does find something suitable soon, as it sounds like he feels the need to provide more, but it feels like the break will do him good.

I am amazed at how well you have planned for all possible outcomes, taking this in your stride, when I think many of us only react after the event (head in sand, fingers crossed hoping, it won't happen attitude, cough).... :D

Really need to do this so I stop change becoming an emergency, rather than pretend it's all fine....
