  • Hi Karmacat :hello: Yes 'tis was me who fessed up first - still hate that nasty big signature but can't hide away from it :)

The property sounds like a good investment though, rather than just another debt, at least you will get something for your return. After 7 years can you continue to finance it by renting it out?

My week hasn't improved a great deal! Cat has decided to bleed profusely and is in and out of the vets. We have pet insurance but we can't make a claim until it has concluded, which could be a while, so we are forking out yet more money. Then DH went to the Bank and it didn't give him his money but took it from our balance. Bank are currenly doing a reclaim but could take up to three weeks - he was taking out £60 for our weekly spends so no weekly spends

Today I am having to cancel all our cards and change bank account as it would appear that there were a few too many personal details in the bag than I originally thought when it was stolen - aaaahhhh from these things we will learn - I'm sure!

Hoping to update my signature on Monday when I have made all the payments and so that figure will go down by £910 :j and will look even prettier - think that is why my new signature is better, as it will appear to reduce more quickly than the other one

KC, that french mortgage sounds like a good investment and how wonderful to have a place in France.

BA, commiserations re the cat and the bank hassles - hope that is sorted soon.

I'm not looking forward to changing my signature as I will have to add a £34,400 debt to my dad that I am NOT repaying. So mine will go down more slowly. Boo hoo.

    Hi BA

Your poor little cat! Sorry this is going on - how is s/he now? And the other stuff, the debt stuff, doesn't help, either.

Thanks to you and Seaxwyn (hi Seaxwyn ) for your comments on the French property. I costed it really badly, which is why I'm in debt now, but I wanted a hassle-free investment, and apart from having to relearn French, it is exactly that. I can't stay in it myself, under the terms of the lease! VAT isn't paid, thats why, its a French Government scheme. I should think when the original 9 years of guaranteed rent run out, the present managing agents will offer to keep it on - its work for them isn't it! But I imagine the rent will be a bit less, since its not guaranteed. Shouldn't matter by then.

And yes, at least there's an appreciating asset to show for my debt (which is actually kind of small compared to you guys, sorry, I feel a bit embarrassed about that). I do have to get to grips with the whole euro mortgage thing tho, that woud be nice, wouldn't it!

  • Oooh, just seen that you are back BA. I liked reading your progress before, so (entirely selfishly!) welcome back!

    H x
  • Hi Karma - glad me and Sea made you feel better :D Seriously at least you have something to show for it and I think that is the most important thing of all. The best thing is no VAT :j so you are very DFW indeedy!!

Helonearth - how nice to know that people read it, I often just drivel away to myself just to make myself feel better to be honest

Cat is still bleeding but only because he keeps scratching it. He is back at the vets next week for a double appointment and possible xrays. Have asked for the claim form from the vets but from memory their normal practice is to pay on the completion of the treatment, will ring and double check this as I'm pretty sure it will get costly next week.

Car is now forgotten and just a lesson learned. We have a lovely weekend planned and will be fairly cheap. Just sat with DH doing a meal plan now, he is doing a lovely list of Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay style stuff and I am just ordering - how lovely - and even better he will be doing all of the cooking!

I must, must, must get doing some ebay stuff as well.

*confession alert* - with some expenses from work I bought a Nintendo DS instead of putting it to the debts -*hangs head in shame* and that is going on ebay, together with the now mended heating sensor, childrens clothes, and we are having a toy tidy out before xmas - so need major motivation to get that done!!

My DFW boast is that we are off to a posh works do of DH's, they have paid for meal, hotel, travel etc. Have nothing to wear, I saw a gorgeous dress in Tescos for 25% and so it only worked out at £18. Only thing was it was 2 sizes too big. So I bought it as it was so cheap, and have had it taken in for £5 at the local alterations shop :T It looks lovely. Me and my friend (who is also going) have compared dresses, hers was £140    and so I didn't mention what mine was, she thought it looked expensive though :rotfl:

Prior to LBM I would have spent a fortune without thinking about it on the good old CC so feel I have definately moved forward.

Best get on with the shopping...........

  • Well, paid the monthly bills and updated my signature, which makes me feel better as it is has gone down by almost £1,000 :j I have a few days at home so I can do some ebaying as well and try and pay it off a little quicker :)

Nothing very exciting happening here, got a few xmas do's lined up but most are paid for and so hopefully won't be too expensive. Just need to get through this month and not spend any more on Christmas and should be a positive start to 2008!

Great that your debt has gone down by nearly 1k...and fab news getting your dress so cheaply ..enjoy your dos and hope the cat gets better...take care xx
  • Thank you, will enjoy the xmas do's, even better when they are paid for by someone else though :D

The cat seems a lot better but he is back at the vets on Weds for xrays so that will mount up.

Best run back upstairs now, trying to work through DS's toys to work out what we can get rid of (aka ebay to repay debts) to make way for Father Christmas' arrivals. As you would expect he "needs" everything, we put it in the ebay box, he removes it and hides it under the bed. Left DH to it but they are now testing out how fast the cars go  I am off to rescue the mission!
