  • I don't like what I call 'shipping forecast' names like Shannon, Bailey and Fisher. Why not German Bight or North Utsira?

My first name features in several songs. As a child I loathed it as people bursting into song thought they were being funny whilst I just found it embarrassing.

I am better with it now, there's another name very similar which ends with a different letter. I get people call me the wrong name. Even more annoying when it's OH's relatives.

  • I don't like my name, a feminised version of a male biblical name, but I have to admit it's better than my mother's first choice Ursula.

I was named Frances after an old auntie, and disliked it, especially as most people spell it with an 'i', instead of 'e'.

Much prefer my nickname 'Frankie', which all relations and friends know me by.

I am named after my maternal uncle, First division footballer and wounded war hero. That's my first name. Middle name was my dad's, a miner all his life and a bigger hero than my uncle or anyone else, to me. RIP dad, you were the best of fathers, loved you. Some part of me died with you, when I heard your last breath that night.

I quite fancied calling my daughter Faye, then my husband said it reminded him of PAYE except it wasn't pay as you earn, I'll let you think of what he replaced pay with. He is a very bad man and ruined the name for me.

Sadly, men have a habit of doing things like this. I wanted to name one of my daughters Isobel. DH started saying, "Is a bell on a bike?" I never mentioned the name again.

I hope they didn't do the 'let's name the children after where they were conceived' thing

Not at all, my dad grew up in London and was an avid train spotter in his youth.

    Oh no another guessing game!

I’m hoping it’s more like Victoria than King’s Cross for your sake!

Yes but don't tell anyone. I once mentioned at work I was named after a London railway station, and a colleague said 'really, which one?'

Never liked my name. It dates me and is also a boys name.

In my head I'm an Isobel.
