Does anyone know how I can find the Kw per hour each company charges for gas and electric?

I'd like to know this too, along with discounts etc.

The whole problem with gas & Electric that the prices are never clear, the comparison sites do it all for you, but i'd rather just have the figures and work it out myself.

The last 3 cold callers trying to switch could not give me the figures, all i asked was what the price per Kw and discounts and they were stumped :rotfl:
  • Surely if you go to the companies websites, download their pdf's, aren't they the correct prices?

That's what I did, made a spreadsheet with all the different unit prices and also noticed that some 2 tier rates are different. Scottish Power charge me for first so many units a quarter, where I think it was EON, charge for first so many per year.

Yeah it's a mine field with the 2 rates. Spread sheets a good idea.
  • Think I'm going to use TopCashBack and get £62 for switching to EON. NPower has a £50/year more saving, but £20 less cashback so £30/year better. However reading moneysupermarket on NPower, I think I will prefer to lose that £30/year and go with EON for better service.

However I need to sort switch date. I can't leave Scottish Power until 1st December, but then they will take payment again on 2nd.

EON are very good, i have had no problem with them. The website is good and you can get a lot of detail about your account!
  • Excellent thanks. I'm guessing that even if Scottish Power do take payment, I'll get it refunded when the account is closed
  • Hi All,

Need to switch energy suppliers and have done 2 price enquiries via seperate comparison sites available via money saving expert, have picked a new supplier and checked via quidco for cashback which is quite high so all good, but am i getting the same rate if i go direct or are the rates available via mse/comparison sites cheaper ?

the tariffs have the same name whichever way i do it !

you'll get the same deal as it's exactly the same website. your computer stores a cookie which tells the gas/elec website that you came through topcashback (or whoever). This is why you should delete the cookies on your computer if you have already visited the provider through the cashback website, as visiting twice can make the provider's system think you're trying to pull a fast one. If in doubt, delete cookies. It just means you'll have to re-enter passwords etc on sites that your computer normally remembers.
    Hope this makes sense
  • I switched back in September, but after an initial letter I hadn't heard from them. So today I rang, to be told electricity will switch 17Dec and gas 30Dec. That makes 14 weeks for the gas. Am I being unreasonable, or is that a stupid amount of time? Anyone else switched lately? How long did it take?
