Yes, indeed.
As requested by MSE, I've already marked their post (and all their others) as Spam.
And as to putting their mobile number on a public forum, well.....
Post has gone now, but the quote including the mobile number remains.
Maybe the quoter is hoping for secondary commission! :rotfl:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. The cheap energy club persists in telling me that I can switch and make savings. Trouble is that the proposed switches invariably are more expensive than my current supplier. The reason is that the cec invariably compares available tariffs to my supplier’s standard rate, not the fixed rate I am actually on,
And which is quite clearly stated in my account details. If it wasn’t MSE I’d be very suspicious. How many more people have been given wrong information and how may have taken the cec at its word and switched only to find they are now paying more. Annual price comparison figures are misleading, you have to look at the monthly cost figure, which is the figure most are familiar with.0 -

Like just about all other comparison sites, CEC use the OFGEM mandated formula for comparisons, which invariably gives artificially high "savings" for anyone not already on a supplier's standard tariff. CEC does give the option to use "Currently you're paying" costs, regardless of when the tariff ends, as the comparison point. Annual costs are much more meaningful than monthly ones, as quite a few suppliers have tariffs which they increase in the winter months and decrease in the summer months, to ease their cash flow. Which monthly cost would you prefer they use?
Not saying CEC is fantastic - IME it is no better or worse than other comparison sites I've looked at.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Mmmm, signed up purely to use an anti-CEC username??
Like just about all other comparison sites, CEC use the OFGEM mandated formula for comparisons, which invariably gives artificially high "savings" for anyone not already on a supplier's standard tariff. . .
It seems to me that the two comparison bases are the price of: (1) a year on your current tariff or (2) a year on your supplier's go-to tariff at the end of a fix.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

They do offer this option, so you can compare to other comparison sites accredited by Ofgem0 -

I have been using AVRO Gas & Electric for the last 3 years.
My contract is now up for renewal.
I did the Cheap Energy Club Comparison check hoping to find a decent deal.
AVRO did not appear in the first 50 results for next years supply.
AVRO have always been competitive, so I went to the AVRO website to find the currently available Fixed rate tariffs for the next 12 months.
When doing a manual (spreadsheet) comparison, the new AVRO tariff was better than most of the tariffs quoted on the Cheap Energy Club search.
I decided that the Energy club comparison must be flawed.
I updated my details on the Cheap Energy Club website with my new AVRO tariff for 2019/20.
Now when I run the comparison only 3 companies beat my new tariff , and only by a few pounds per year.
Conclusion: Always do more research, never trust comparison site searches alone.0 -
