Could you explain that, please. SP are not the only supplier offering Economy 7 tariffs.Biscuit_Tin wrote: ». . . If you want to switch supplier, then you will need to ask SP to change your metering.

When I switched to (I believe it was) Scottish Power, they arranged to change my Economy 7 meter to a standard one for me free of charge - but this was a number of years ago (5+ iirc).Consumerist wrote: »Could you explain that, please. SP are not the only supplier offering Economy 7 tariffs.0 -
If the metering set-up is incompatible for a new supplier, perhaps they will do the same, rather than asking the losing supplier.MothballsWallet wrote: »When I switched to (I believe it was) Scottish Power, they arranged to change my Economy 7 meter to a standard one for me free of charge - but this was a number of years ago (5+ iirc).
Best option for Sian2769 is probably to discuss the matter with any prospective new supplier before initiating a switch if it looks like being an issue.

I moved to the Britsh gas Home Energy Plus Boiler Cover Feb 2020 tariff back in February this year. My Energy Savers page has not been updated since February this year. It also shows that I am in the process of being switched to the British gas Energy Plus Boiler Cover April 2020. Whilst this is a good thing - ie cheaper - I don't remember actually "clicking" for this. I suspect it may have been done by Energy Savers Club automatically?0

I am having problems. I normally switch my supplier for electricity* each year without problem. This year, the different comparison sites are giving me different results. Then when I look up a company for reviews from users, there are two people saying "wonderful, excellent" and then two people who say "don't touch them with a bargepole" !
*(property is electric only)
Any suggestions?Thank you for reading this message.0 -

It is more likely that problems will be aired on-line than praise. Some suppliers are inducing customers to give a 5-star review on the likes of Trustpilot in return for such things as vouchers or entry into prize draws.
If you do look at reviews look at the detail of the review rather than just the "rating" or headline alone. I would regard "wonderful" and "don't touch with a barge pole" on their own as suspicious.
As for varying quotes, you may need to contact a prospective supplier direct to find out what rates are actually available. Some suppliers are offering cheaper tariffs only if applied for via specific comparison web site(s) so be careful about signing-up direct until you're sure of the situation.
If you find a prospective supplier via MSE's Cheap Energy Club you may also get a discount of £12.50 per fuel if you switch via them.
Happy hunting.

The boiler cover is bundled with the tariff. Applying for the tariff is the same as "clicking" for this. The clue might have been in the title of the tariff.Nigel_Bailey wrote: »I moved to the Britsh gas Home Energy Plus Boiler Cover Feb 2020 tariff back in February this year. If you name the companies that you are looking at then maybe some else with be able to offer more information. It isn't a state secret so no need to be shy with names.I-LOV-MONEY wrote: »Any suggestions?
Also if you are looking at cashback sites then energylinx offer £17 per fuel cashback from this link https://www.energylinx.co.uk/energy/cashback/.
And some companies offer more money using referral links so check the MSE Referrals board too at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=42
I have no links to any energy company nor switching sites.0 -
Thank you for your advice Consumerist and gsmlnx.
The companies I have received 'good' quotes from are -
Bulb, Symbio, PTP, and Outfox the Market. (I am at present with Ovo). Ideally I want Economy 7 tarrif, which I don't think OtM offer - but if their single rate is much cheaper it wouldn't matter.Thank you for reading this message.0 -
I'm with Pure Planet at the moment and some cheaper options have appeared. Options between Outfoxthemarket, Utility Point and EDF. I'm leaning on EDF as more known. Showing £131 saving including cashback based on my latest yearly usage on bill. Does anyone think it's worth switching?0
