You can do this with any comparison site listed.
For many it is a simple tab or filter to see either gas only or electricity only options.
The article advises you do make such a comparison in tip number 4Plus don't assume dual fuel (getting gas & electricity from one supplier) is cheapest. When comparing, check the cheapest separate suppliers too.

How can I get a comparison quote BASED ON MY CURRENT DEAL as all comparison sites quote against a Standard Tariff when the existing deal has ended. There is a move to change this but it has not happened. I am on Dual Fuel with Scottish Energy.
None of the comparisons give you an easy comparison, unit rates etc.
Any advice appreciated"0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -

You need to actually do a slide rule comparison, which means calculating yourself for the amount of gas and electricity you use and standing charge charges, its quite easy to do as long as you know your existing charges and alternative charges you are looking at - don't forget VAT though, which is 8% I think. Most comparison sites compare quite well, but over estimate actual savings, so basically just look at the monthly charge you want to pay. In my instance I pumped for First Utility 15 month fixed price, which worked out at £90 per month, as compared to Ovo Energy that wanted £102 month based on our existing 12 month usage - also check cash back sites, again in my instance we have £100 cash back from Top Cash Back via signing with First Utility - it was not the cheapest as the new boys on the block are cheaper, however with Cash Back included, costs over duration of contract favourable and avoid price hikes until May 2018.0 -

VAT on domestic energy is 5% not 8%.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The Cheap Energy Club comparison site has the option to use just your current deal as the baseline for comparisons. When the results are displayed, just click the "base your savings on this cost instead" under the what you're currently paying box.0 -

How do you get £100 cashback from TCB? I can only see £40.

Hi money needs, it's great to hear you've got another good deal; however I'm not aware any of our current tariffs would be the same price as your Collective Tariff.
To be on the safe side it'd be best to check your new deal and if you'd call our Billing Team on 0800 048 0202 we'll check this for you.
Alternatively if you'd prefer you can pop me an email with your details to talktous@britishgas.co.uk, please just include MSE Forums & your MSE username in the subject heading. I switched last year to British Gas as part of the February collective deals and my fix is due to end this month.
With the lack of any good dual fuel deals available, I have looked at separate suppliers and my research has led me down to:
Gas: Scottish Power - I should end up paying the same as this year
Elec: Robin Hood - projected to be £50 more expensive, but has no exit fee so option to switch if a better deal comes along.
Has anyone got any good or bad experiences with any of these suppliers?
I will be looking to switch through the Cheap Energy Club. Would I be better going through a cashback site?
Regards,

Not sure how to post a new thread as i cannot seem to find this option.
Will the Cheap Energy Club be back up again soon as it is down at the moment? I tried using it last night and again this morning.
