  • I just tried British Gas and all they offered was the Standard Variable or the free electricity/gas on a Saturday or Sunday if I had smart meters installed. I have probably switched every year for the last three years but this is the worst for deals so far. Lowest cost for me seems to be Iresa but really don't like the look of their customer reviews.

Just got off the phone with BG.
Not a chance of continuing the current collective fix, but
they say that another 'fix' will be offered end of Feb - with slightly higher unit costs.

A con to stop people switching now?

So is this slightly higher than the collective fix, or than what is already on offer?

BG told me I could pay the same price for 12 months BUT it would be based on the standard unit rate. This would mean I would be in debt at the end of the year. I would check that this isn't the offer they made you.

My fix with EON is about to finish and the new fixed is a whole lot dearer not surprisingly at £95. I have been looking and the cheapest is to go separate for gas & elec. These are for 12 month fixed and in total are about £86, with dual fuel coming in very slightly more expensive.
There is the Engie fixed until June 2019 which come in at £94. Whilst about £7 more, surely worth paying the extra for the longer fix ??? Discuss !!
Anyone with them, any good ?

Ah GDF Suez, that is a name I know, makes much more sense now. Thinking i'll probably go for it. Although always looking for best(ish) deal, a few quid dearer for not having to look every few months is attractive.
