I just entered my figures for usage into Moneysaving experts site 304 kwh for gas a week and 440kwh for Electricity a week which I have taken from my Smart meter and it came up with a cost of £215 pmonth and £2582 per year - something is not right. . .
Unless you are running a hotel, those consumption figures are extremely high. I would suggest you re-check.

Have a look <here>to see what you might reasonably expect over a whole year.

I pay £80 pmnth with British Gas on Collective Fix February 2017 and they have just reduced that to £70 as I was paying too much.

Although MSE state, what they call the nonsensical comparison tariff as 9.42 pkwh whereas my current tariff states 10.75 for electricity and MSE 3.15p for gas against BG's 3.36p

Went to Uswitch and they showed EDF as being cheapeast saving me £170+ a years saving.

It's a nightmare trying to make comparisons when it is supposed to be easier!

Am I going senile or something? Don't know which is best and MSE are promoting a new British Gas deal - I feel like Confused .com!

Refer to your bill or statement from BG that should advise what your anticipated annual consumption in kWh is expected to be (particularly as they appear to have re-calculated your monthly DD)

If you can't find that info, call them and ask for it :)

from reading this i probably wont get the cashback as i stayed with NPower. The reason I did this is what does not appear on the savings is the £90 dual fuel discount. so although i am only saving £56 i am still saving £146. Curious why this is not in the savings as it is still a discount and it can make a difference to your saving figures.

Depends which comparison site you used and/or how a supplier passes their information on ... but it should be mentioned in the detail and whether or not it is included in the headline figure.

For that reason, often best to consult more than one comparison site, as another may indeed include it within their headline cost (and so bump a particular tariff up the table).

Did you compare seperate suppliers - they are often cheaper than any dual fuel tariff :)

    Hello Malc!
Any signs of EON joining the collective switch? Quite disappointed you're not there!

    Cheers Lucy
  • Hello Lucy. Sorry but we're not involved with MSE's latest Collectives. Not been told of any future collectives we might be bidding for either but that's not unusual as ordinary advisors like me are only told at the last possible moment.

  • Hi,

as of Monday I am a first time British Gas customer and my acconts are on HomeEnergy Connected Kit Jan 2018. I don't want this as it is expensive and they've offered me HomeEnergy Capped November 2017, HomeEnergy Fixed November 2018. All these seem expensive and I am thinking of switching to E-ON. Could anyone give me any advice on this? Also I noticed on the forms with E-On they are asking for MPAN & MPRN numbers? can anyone advise?

    Thanks

Hello Dunenergy and welcome to the Forums.

Just thought I'd let you know, the Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) and Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) are unique references used by the industry to identify individual electricity and gas meters at UK properties. They're what all energy companies use when switching electricity and gas accounts. Usually, they're on bills as well as sometimes being attached to meters.

Before switching, I'd pop your usage in kWh on to the Price Comparison sites. These will list options with all the suppliers and, if you use MSE's Cheap Energy Club (see Cardew's link) as one site, it'll show the tariff Cardew mentions.

Hope this is of use Dunenergy.
