Been a member of the energy club for a while and switched after having a nightmare with E-on (would never go back even if they were the cheapest), got £12.12 cashback and reduced my monthly DD from £187 to £120 - submitting monthly meter readings and so far I'm in credit.
Though to be be expected during the summer months!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)
MFW (08/08) £118k Gone (09/23)0 -
I switched last year to First Utility, when I checked with the Energy Club I was still on the cheapest tariff, however I'm now moving house and have to pay a £60 early termination fee - should have thought about that in the first place really
Oh well, what's done is done and I'm moving to a smaller house so I expect the bills to be lower anyway:j PAID VERY, Barclaycard x3, Vanquis, Natwest, O/D, Tesco & MBNA x2 PAID :j LBM 24/07/15 - Original Debt: £0/31010.23 (100% paid)
Mortgage - £151.316.54 :eek:0 -

Are you sure about that?
Termination fees are not usually payable where the termination is caused by a house move.0 -

Switched from Scottish Power online standard tarriff to EDF Nov 16 deal. Saving £762 a year. £300 to come back from Scottish Power. Very happy it will help fund Christmas! Thank you very much Energy Club:j0

Wow that is a very impressive annual saving if correct. :T
Presumably you are a very high consumer of energy because we don't even pay £762 a year for our energy (we are a low user) but even an average household would only pay £1162 on the most expensive SP online tariff resulting in an annual saving of £331 for moving to the EDF tariff you specified.
SP's own Online Fixed Price Energy October 2016 tariff would actually then save £346 against the online tariff I originally compared to.
(These are figures for the Eastern supply region, and will vary slightly by region)
In regards the £300 back from SP, be careful as this was presumably credit accrued over the summer in anticipation of the usual expensive winter period (although £300 credit is not really much at this time of year for a very high user - I suppose it may depend when i.e. which month, you first joined SP)
It's not a big issue as it should all work itself out, but if you eventually decide to switch away from EDF at some time in the future, if you do not do so at this time of year, you may be faced with a large final bill from EDF to pay.
(and if you do switch at this time of year, the same goes for the next switch and so on, until such times as you either don't switch at this time of year or switch to one of the smaller and often cheaper suppliers that do not like you going into a position that means your account goes into debit in the first winter)0 -
We have been with Npower [previously MEB] for 40 plus years. We would really like to change supplier but our off peak electricity is tariff OP2 which gives us an extra afternoon boost. I am told that Npower is the only supplier to offer OP2, and therefor we cannot change. Any suggestions would be appreciated.0

I can only confirm what you have already been told by nPower.
Attempting to switch supplier with the current metering will only end in tears.
Most people do not benefit from the cheap electricity you currently have access to every afternoon.0 -
My son got the keys to his first house today. As he has no bills to compare prices he has no info to put in to this site to find the cheapest gas and electric. Does anyone know the best way to go about sorting this out? The previous owners have not left any information so we don't know which supplier they used. Thankyou.0
