So in all, I would have been better off not switching!

There is a lot going on at the moment with so called price cuts (they put it up 25% and now cut it by 3 to 5%, big deal).

I think it`s best to hang on `til the dust settles before making any move.

Am I correct in saying it is only possible to compare dual fuel deals in Cheap Energy Club?

If so, is there anywhere I can get reviews on the reliability of the other cash back switching sites?

Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks.

No, it's possible to compare single fuel tariffs too.

  • I was with nPower for some years in my previous address but since moving (June 2014) and opting for dual fuel, they just don't seem to be getting things right.

My direct debit was £50 and they've said it will be increased to £135. At the time I was £347 in credit!! I've telephoned on several occasions and tried to change my tariff, which they said they would do, but when I get the bill online it shows a different tariff, direct debit amount and my name spelt incorrectly.

I do take details of dates and names, so I sent a letter to both Head Office and complaints department but haven't yet received a reply - that was at least 2 weeks' ago.

I feel I should be owed some money as they've put me on Standard tariffs with gas instead of Price Fix tariffs which I requested in the past and this has also happened with my electricity.

    Not to be recommended unfortunately.

That is right, of course, but often the kWh cost and daily rate cost are "hidden" until you sign up! We need more transparency in the energy market, as everyone keeps saying, but what we get is more complications!

I would personally never ever sign up to a deal unless I knew what the kWh cost and daily rates were!

Same here!! Much easier than worrying about usage !! I am switching at the moment because both daily and KWh are cheaper for both gas and electric than my present supplier. :T

Easy if you're on a relatively expensive contract, but annual usage is essential as you "fine tune" your costs. Depending on your usage, a slightly higher standing charge but lower kWh rate can work out better, or vice versa.

The problem is that the weather patterns in recent years make it difficult for predictions to be anything like reliable. I tend to prefer lower unit costs so I am paying the least possible if the weather is unusually cold.

Good point ! I am with OVO and changing to the Co-op. I did notice OVO have reduced their gas but as I was on a fixed contract they will not change to their new lower rate.
