    Hi there

I am completing on the purchase of a new house next week.

Am I able to change provider now? As the change process takes a couple of months, the present provider at that address will have to supply me until the switchover. I guess that means that I will have to pay their standard fees until I switch.

Does anyone know if I can switch now so that I can be supplied by my new provider when I move in?
  • Hi all,

I switched to Scottish Power via the Cheap Energy Club comparison checker and only a day or two later they announced their price hike. Now I went for the "Scottish Power Online Fixed Price Energy November 2014" but it took a week or two to actually switch so the price hike was inside that window. Do I get the prices promised on the comparison guide or have I been caught by the price hike?

    (Hoping that made sense!)

There seems to be some confusion over increases to fixed rate tariffs that take place after you've started the switching process. Once you've started the process by giving your supply details to the new company you'll not be affected by any subsequent increase. Occasionally there may be a mistake, but companies will always correct it if you point it out.

Assuming it's a fixed rate tariff of course. ;)

I switched to npower via MSE cheap energy club last Thursday (10th). Got a confirmation email straight away, but have heard nothing since?

Absolutely - thanks for pointing that out. I've corrected the original post. :)

Not really a surprise. NPower billing has been in a mess for some time, and they still haven't sorted it out. The recent flood of new applications can only make things worse. They'll get there eventually. :)
  • If anybody is going for a fixed tariff especially dual fuel check out top cashback as some of the providers are giving upto £105 cashback for dual fuel:

Wrong, only one supplier is offering that much cashback and they don't offer it for a fixed tariff.

I have just switched from Scottish Power January 2014 online fixed tariff to the 2015 March fixed EDF one through the EDF website. I checked for cashback first but didn't notice the £30 cashback possibility from Energy Club. Shall I cancel the switch and switch again including the £30 this time? Do you think EDF would accept this?
