You should, however, reckon this year's consumption will be a bit higher due to the comparatively colder weather this year.
Thank you! I will need to route this out. I'm awful for not reading these types of things, but I probably should be if it will save me and my family money! :j0 -

I think I may do that as I am actually moving home and to have to close my account with scottish power, so perfect time to check all of these things. New property is on scottish gas, not sure of the tariff as yet. I'm not sure I understand what is cheapest, so that's why these comparison sites are so useful!0 -

Waste of time & effort now, imho.
No point switching supplier (for your old address) if you are moving.
The consumption at the new property will not be the same as at the old due to so many variables.0 -
I think I may do that as I am actually moving home . . .
For the future I would advise keeping energy bills for at least a couple of years to help with switching decisions.
The best you can probably do for the moment, I suggest, is to assume you are a "medium" user (as defined by Ofgem) to get you started. That's 3,300 kWh pa for electricity and [STRIKE]20,500[/STRIKE] 16,500 kWh pa for gas.
Always use consumption (kWh) figures on energy comparison sites, if you can - try to avoid using annual expenditure.
Edit
Ofgem is currently proposing to reduce their medium user values to 13,500 kWh pa for gas and 3,200 kWh pa for electricity. (Consultation published today, 03 July 2013)Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Just got a bill from EDF saying they are putting our direct debit up to £453 a MONTH!!!!!!!!!
Theres two of us living in three bed bungalow, my partner is away at least three days a week and its just me, I seldom have the central heating on and am out a lot myself,
Has anyone else got a monthly bill like this?
and according to our bill we are using
106.2 kWh per day for Gas
33.43 kWh per day for Electric
That seems to be double the national average for gas and 4 times the national average for electricity0 -

They tried the same trick on me just before the winter although wanting £195 per month. Told them forget it and leave it at £110 for my 4 bed house. After the winter they have dropped it to £106.0 -

Is your bill/statement based on actual or estimated meter readings?
If estimated, why?
Is your account substantially in arrears? If not then this should help you:
