Which tariff are you on, exactly?
A FIXED tariff is just that, one where the tariff charges will not alter (except for possible VAT rate changes) over the term of the agreement.
If you have been advised your tariff charges are changing, it doesn't sound like you are actually on a FIXED tariff.
NOT VERY HAPPY JUST FOUND THIS ;
What is Bill Saver August 2013?
Bill Saver August 2013 is no longer available.
For existing customers already on the tariff the details of your tariff are outlined below
Annual charges which are at a 7% discount to standard variable off-line charges from time to time until 31/08/13.
Plus, pay by Direct Debit for both your gas and electricity and you'll also receive a discount of £100 when you've paid this way continuously for 12 months.
Bill Saver August 2013 was not available to Prepayment customers or customers with non-standard metering. Prices aren't fixed or capped so may vary during the offer period. Bill Saver has a standing charge so annual charges for customers with very low consumption may be higher than the charges on our standard tariff which does not contain a standard charge
Although this offer has now closed, Bill Saver November 2013 is now available. Please click here for details0 -
I really thought i didnt have to compare the price again & was locked in - ive really been messed about because i moved house & was forced to be with a different company ,then had to change again & lost the original deal, then they made a direct debit error ,had to pay me back because they took it from my savings account, but i still had a late payment charge, then they told me i cannot pay direct debit because of the late payment (theyre fault as they emptied my savings account) & i would be on a new deal _ so i thought i was locked in ,on a fixed price

If you are really not happy, just follow the advice in the article linked to in the OP
(the price rise advice should also inform you how to avoid this if you don't like it)
Fortunately with your current tariff, you are not tied in or have any early exit fees to worry about.0 -
Just so you are aware, I got a great deal with a switch to Scottish Power through Moneysupermarket.com, and they were really prompt in paying their cashback deal of £70. However, when I switched, I was in credit with my previous supplier (Npower) and in spite of two months and many emails, they not only have failed to give me back the money they owe me, but they haven't even managed the courtesy of a response to my emails to them. If I had have owed them money, I expect the payment would be out of my account and in the directors bonus pot by now.
Anyone else had problems with Npower in this way?0 -

Have you had your final bill from nPower yet?
Have you raised a formal complaint?0 -
"BG's hiking energy prices an avg 6%. Someone paying £1,265/yr on its standard dual fuel tariff switching to the cheapest deal with no hikes due at the moment Npower Online Jan ‘14* would then pay £1,070/yr."
I think the above information given in the latest MSE newsletter is incorrect.
It says on Npower's website:
"Annual charges at least 4% lower than our standard variable charges (namely our new higher prices effective 26 November 2012 or any subsequent change to them) for the average dual fuel customer"
It seems that Npower is also going to price hike too. I guess it won't be the cheapest tariff provider anymore.
Who is the cheapest after a current price hike given the average consumption estimate by MSE?0 -

Have you raised a formal complaint?
I had online billing. The final gas bill came on 17/9 and the electricity on 28/9.
I have sent emails to their complaints email address without response. I have called tonight and guess what - their systems were down! The young man on the phone was extremely apologetic but could only pass on my complaint to someone else.0 -
Come Monday when Ebico fix a new credit meter, I will be able to shop around hopefully to get a good deal.
Although it seems a lot of the headline deals are not available to single-fuel customers (no mains gas in this area)0 -

:Asomeone above wrote"
"the unit prices are irrelevant"
sorry, for many of us unit prices are the only factor that we can trust.
As the mse intro describes, each comparison site comes up with different results - because they use "black box" calculators with all sort of assumptions.
When switching first became possible ofgem (?) had an easy to read table of unit prices.
Sure, some suppliers had a standing charge while others expensive initial units (but that's just another way of expressing a standard charge).
The tables for each fuel also made it easy to see that (at the time) dual fuel was worse than cherry-picking the cheapest gas and cheapest electric supply.
Side by side units provide a reliable indicator - with a very simple spreadsheet providing confirmation.
So we switched both gas and electricity several years ago.
Since then, salesman have called and we always asked what the unit price is.
Half the time they could not tell us (a curious obfuscation) - but when they did the unit price was always higher than our existing supplier - even though prices had gone up.
There was nothing more we needed to know !
[with 99.9% of restaurants posting menus with itemised prices, how many people would be comfortable with one posting an estimated bill? (not a fixed price menu. That might be attractive)]
q1. So how can comparison site calculators be trusted if each produces a different result?
Q2. If e.on comes up cheapest in a comparison site, why when one visits the e.on website e.on do everything but spell out the unit price ? (if someone can provide a link to e.on's unit prices i would be very grateful).
Ok, rant about lack of unit prices over....!1 -
ive just done a comparison on moneysupermarket of a dual fuel based on my unit price of 11.7 elec, gas 3.85 total cost of energy including standing charges vat is £960 a year, with coop energy.
It comes up with 38 tariffs only 3 better than what im paying now.
the best save is sainsbury energy so it says saves me £21.39wooooooo.next tariff is npower saves £14.42wooo.
next save is eon £2.78 wooooo
All these tariffs have exit fees tied in im free with coop to leave if i dont like it.
but hang on i got 11 pounds dividend thats £949 a year plus soon getting 2 percent off my elec thats another tenner off thats around £939 a year snap lol
FOR ME THERES NO TARIFF CHEAPER THAN MINE NOW PLUS IM NOT TIED IN NO EXIT CHARGES
TARIFFS dont you hate that word i prefer unit prices kwh and standing charges
IF anyone find anything better with no tie ins please do say cant find anything on moneysupermarket0
