My FP deal with Atlantic is also about to expire. I'm currently considering:
Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 13 Dual Fuel)!

After reading Martin Lewis' post on the best comparison sites to use to switch energy providers, I chose SimplySwitch as they were offering £40 cashback which would come in very useful as we are in the process of moving home.
I compared my tariffs online and found a company that was cheaper, but when I tried to switch online the site said that switching online with that company was not possible, so they gave me a number to ring instead. I went back and tried with a more well-known company, E-ON. Again it said that they couldn't switch me online but asked me to call a freephone number. I did so and ended up switching with British Gas.
When I enquired about my £40 cashback I was told that because I had switched by telephone I wasn't entitled to it and should have read their terms and conditions.
What a con! That site is recommended not just on the forum but on the main site as a trusted company. The very reason I chose them was because I went on here first to rule out those companies who try to wriggle out of reward schemes.
So for those thinking of switching, don't use SimplySwitch and if a site tells you to switch by telephone, be warned that this forfeits your promised reward. I think this should be made more clear not just on the SimplySwitch site but also on this one.0 -
Beware when using switching companies to switch tarif (not supplier) Used Simplyswitch for the dual fuel £40 'thank you'
From Spark Electric to British Gas Websave v.11 - No problem!
From British Gas standard to British Gas Websave v.11 - Problem!
Called BG and was informed that because only the tarif was changing, no request to change this was received by Simplyswitch.
Result is that I've been on the Standard (£££) Gas tarif for longer than I would have liked, and I'm probably not entitled to all of the £40 for switching.
10 out of 10 to BG for their solution which effectively means I've not missed out on the new tarrif by backdating it to when I moved in.
I've e-mailed Simplyswitch and asked them if I'll get my £40.0 -
Does anyone know of any sites that offer comparison on cashback for energy products? And if so which ones give the highest amount of cashback. Came across The Independant - They claim to give up to £35 cashback.0

After a massive price rise by my current company I found it cheaper to switch tarrif with them for electricity and move for gas.
There is no cashback even for my gas which is now Ebico. But even with taking into account cashback for me this was my cheapest route.0 -

A low user indeed. I imagine there is a usage level where it ceases to be cheaper. Yet some supplier's first tier charge bands are getting wider and wider. And likewise standing charges are getting bigger.
With Ebico 'supposedly' being not for profit I imagine the more people that switch to them the cheaper it could get.
What I don't like is the fact that suppliers are now abusing their non vigilant loyal customers just like banks do. It can only instil distrust.0 -

Hello deveco22
Sometimes it can be tricky to balance changing supplier and tarriff end date and you can be stung with the cancellation fee if you dont time it correctly.
My advice is too ask your new supplier for the expected SSD ( supply start date) and compare it to you tariff end date.
Or an easier option is to put the request in to your new supplier to change and then contact e.on to remove you from the online tariff and to put you on the cheapest non online tariff such as discount energy or track and save for example.
As you have changed tariff internally first with e.on and not changed supplier then the cancellation fee does not stand ( it is a loophole worth knowing ) you can do this with any supplier to get out of the canellation fee just swicth tariiff and move suplier pretty quick to get the best deal.
I work in the energy sector and regualrly do this ..e.on will not tell u about this as they cash in on the cancellation fees as if e.on are not making enough money

Hi, Does anyone know of any utility companies that help people with a disability (I have MS & get DLA) who are housebound and need heating on all day- Oh and are under 60 years old.
I have rang EON(who we are with, but contract ends 1st april) & they only help the over 60s ( who are not disabledgo figure :?
Any help greatly appreciated,
lou
Hello
There is not really much available in your circumstances unless you are over 60 then there is many social tarffis such as AGE UK, Staywarm, Warmassist etc all aimed at 60 years and above... I think u may qualify for cold weather payment though have you checked this ...0 -
Hi dave
Just thought I would confirm, if the supply switches before the Fixonline 6 tariff expires on 1 April 2011, there will be a cancellation fee. This is £30 for Dual Fuel and £10 for electricity only.
Be careful, too, of our policy of not giving discount on final bills when changing supplier.
It might be beneficial to time a move so it completes after the contract end date.
In this way, you will not only avoid the cancellation fee but also, as you will have completed the Fixonline 6 contract, will receive all the discount applicable to this tariff even if part of this falls within the final bill. Could save you quite a bit.
Hope this helps dave. Give me a shout if you need any more info.
