Just telephoned SP to ask why I was basically saving nothing, and they told me the figures on the comparison site were old data. They would also be reviewing my payments after the next readings, and the direct debit would be adjusted accordingly.

Oh well, lesson learnt. Will have to see how it goes.
  • Its not easy to call round the suppliers to get the cheapest, if you look on a comparison site, get your unit rates and discounts and check them agains the ones that it says are cheaper, if the unit rates are less then you will pay less.
The direct debit may not show how much you will end up paying and you can get them to change it if you call them

Hi all - 5 days ago I completed details on the beatthatquote.com site and agreed to switch. I've heard nothing from them since - does anyone know, should I have received an e-mail from them, or do I just wait for the new provider to get in touch?

No. You need to switch suppliers to get any cashback.

Thanks geordie_ben, I did try, but the company rep doesn't accept PMs
"BeatThatQuote company representative has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her."

So, the query still stands. But I'll try posting on that thread aswell, cause it looks like the co.rep. lurks there!

Just to let you all know, I managed to get through on the phone to beatthatquote.com - they've confirmed that my switch is going through, but did say that I should have had a confirmation e-mail (I haven't) - and to check spam box as it could be in there (it isn't).
    At least it's going through!
  • Just looked into switching supplier for dual fuel, followed the links on MSE to try and get cashback which gave me an idea of how much I would be saving then, as i've used Give or Take before and recieved cash back through this, looked at the offers on this sight and found that they offer £80 cashback with Scottish Power, much better offer than any other I looked at so i've signed up x
