  • Take mouldy things to the councillor surgeries and MP surgeries, write them letters to update them on how things are going and mention the crime you were a victim of that put you in this situation, ask about your human rights. Tell the health workers how the situation is affecting you and your family physically and mentally. Keep phoning the housing association.

Our council has dehumidifyers for flooded houses etc, perhaps they could lend you one.

I'm sorry I can't do anything to help your situation but can I please commend you for taking the time to help other people when things are not 100% at home. I do believe in what goes around and I'm sure things will work out for you but I know that does not help when you are stuck with a mouldy house and no one doing anything.

I never expected to read someone taking a cheap shot on this website at someone else's situation - I can't believe someone would go so low. Our fingers are tightly crossed for you and your family. I'm sure with your persistence you will get out of this soon.

have you tried the speaking to the doctors. i got my flat mainly on medical grounds and perhaps that would help? if u can't drive because of medical reasons then shouldn't you be higher on the list? i guess the problem is there just isn't enough housing around.

    Hi Tiger,

Just a thought, not sure what you think of this but might be of some help.

How about getting the local press involved? Surely the HA wouldn't want the hassle and bad press. Maybe just telling them you're going to do it if you don't get anywhere might be an idea???

I love this board, I've read this thread from start to finish and the support that people give to each other (bar the odd one of course) whether on BR or other issues always make me feel glad that I found this place.

We wrote to our MP. MEP and Councillers and had a lot of support in the begining. They all wrote to the HA and the HA did all the checks just to make doubley sure the mould was there due to general living and confirmed it and the MP's etc. said fair enough. So we let it go but I suppose we should contact them again and say situation not changed and going down the list. I have my tearly review with my health care workers on the 17th Dec. so we will see what they have to say and weather they will bring more pressure to bear. I will definatly be ringing the HA every Thursday.

Our council has dehumidifyers for flooded houses etc, perhaps they could lend you one. Iwill ask about them when I ring on Thursday. Just concerned about the amount of electricity they use. We are averaging £40-45 a week at the moment and the heating isn't full on yet.

It is no hardship at all. I am fairlly housebound and this is my social life:D And there is always someone worse off than you and I've been/am in the position of most of the people on this board and know what that terror is like when the phone rings or the post comes.

Thank you so much. The support from everyone has been overwhelming. I wasn't expecting this at all. I just needed a whinge and to unload and thought I may have got a few 'there, there's' but the concern and help has been overwhelming, this forum is the best :T

My health team have been in touch and it gained me a whole 1 point

Yep! Maggie has a lot to answer for with buy to let and they are not building as much either. In fact that's my next project to try and find out what houses have been built and the percentage of 2 and 3 bedrooms.

    Cheers Claire.

We have thought about the press but my DH is a teacher and we don't think it will go well with his head and the pupils and with my illness I just couldn't cope with it at the moment but it is a consideration if we are still here by the summer.

This is a great place to be isn't it :T

If there is more moisture in the air in your flat than outside (and it sounds like there could be) then opening the windows for a short time during the day should make a noticable improvement. You could do this a room at a time if it makes it easier.

You can also buy crystal things that you put on window sills that absorb moisture, not sure what they are called but they do work. We used to have metal window frames and the condensation would pool on the sill and drip onto the floor; the crystal things really helped. I know they cost to buy, but they don't use electricity so no running costs.

Thanks for that silvercar. I will start opening them for an hour or so each day. Trouble is I forget to close them untill it starts getting really cold.

We have those crystal things on the window sills. I empty them once a week and put new crystals in about once a month.

We had a letter today from the council saying that the HA has asked them to do an inspection to see if we are overcrowded. I have to ring them to make an appointment. SO WILL GET THAT SORTED NEXT WEEK. oops!:o

Sorry I have not been posting much this week but I have had a bad week and it has really knocked me for 6 plus I have two ill children

    Thanks BH

Just filling out the tax credit forms. We didn't claim last year, but as DH's wages have dropped by nearly 8k we decided it best too. Have just been told that we have to put his April 2006 to April 2007 wages on and can't put from this Sept wages down aaarrrgghhhh!!!
