Tiger, you've not suffered enough, my dear. Even if you'd lost all but one finger, were a multiple amputee, had been exposed to enough radiation to glow in the dark & be seen from the moon, & had gone through all kinds of illnesses & traumas, it still wouldn't be enough for BH. Why? Because on top of everything else, you went BR. If there was only one thing that could get me through my sometimes very painful day, it would be the knowledge that every bit of happiness I experience & every penny I spendtigerfeet2006 wrote: »When I posted this I knew that you wouldn't be able to resist putting your nose in.
BH I am having a bad day, this is one thing out of a catalogue of things today and I just needed to whinge to get it off my chest. Somedays are like that.
The reason we have a HA flat is our business went belly up and I was attacked and severly injured at work and have been unable to work since. We lost our house which was big enough and spent 9 months living in one room in a B&B with my eldest son untill we were given this flat. So I do know what is like being in a really bad situation. It took us 5years to have our 1st child and 2 1/2 years for our second and I am forever grateful to the medical professionals that helped us. Child 3 is a bit of a miracle and shouldn't really be here according to the Dr's, he is our bonus. We didn't set out to have 3 children in a 2 bed flat.* * AS A BANKRUPT* *
(now discharged  - how dare the OR decide to give me an ED!)
has the capacity to annoy her. Sometimes you don't have to do much to accomplish a great deal.
BH take note - I intend to find something to smile about EVERY SINGLE DAY, & though there was a time when I didn't think I'd see this summer because I was so ill, I've recovered enough to think I've got a long & fruitful life ahead. I'm going to enjoy it too, so you've got a miserable time ahead. BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement." BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, if things are going to disappoint us, it's at this time of year when household costs are at their highest. Did you get your flat on the basis of your council not being able to house you so allocating you to a HA, or did you apply to the HA yourselves? If the council were involved, I suggest you get another council surveyor or the Environmental Health in to do another assessment - if they only saw the flat in good weather, it would be worth calling them in as they won't have seen the flat at its worst, especially now you've had the baby.
Also, speak to your doctor, tell them about your housing conditions & ask for a supporting letter to give to the council/HA, as that might help your application. My old council flat didn't have central heating for my first 10 years or so, & it was so cold inside one winter that I could see my breath when I exhaled. It took a letter from my doctor for the council to agree to install the central heating. Letters from medical professionals seem to make a difference, so get your doctor & nurses looking after your children on the case. You could also speak to Shelter - besides advising you on your actual circumstances, they may be able to tell you of other organisations that can help you put pressure on the HA to sort the flat out.
HI wdiag, our council don't hold the list, the HA do!! The council redirect people to the HA.
Have had EA out and they said it was lifestyle. When they saw it the mould was 2 foot up our bedroom walls and coming round behind our bed. I asked him to pick up a magazine that I had dropped on the floor beside the bed the night before and it was damp.
All my medical people and politicians have written to them.
The first house I bought when I was single had no heating in. After a couple of winters of ise on the inside of the windows  you can bet I put gas heating in.
Didn't think of Shelter, thanks. Daft thing is I've recommended them to other people. BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

So you are in a better situation than you were. Phil we don't have a living room as DH can't manage the stairs. My post as always was turned into a negative because thats how you chose to read it. There isn't a huge supply of social housing a lot of people (families) are still living in bedsits these people would be grateful for your flat/house.
Still slagging me off makes you feel better so your day must have improved loads.Barclaycard 3800

Sorry to hear about your circumstances, Phil - you don't complain & I didn't realise you were ill too. I hope things get sorted out for you soon. :grouphug:philnicandamy wrote: »Good old reliable BH you really have a knack for P**** people off dont you? You're right about nagging the "powers that be" - there was a time when I was ringing my housing officer so often that he started sounding like he was crying as soon as he heard my voice. I think he sorted out my housing just so he could get through the day without my dulcet tones haunting him. :rotfl:BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

            Hi Tigerfeet,
I'm so sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time, I wish I had some advice or words of comfort to offer you. I find it totally disgusting that you and your family have to live in these sort of conditions, it's just awful and it makes me so angry for you.
Surely the whole point of so-called "social housing" is to help those living in unsuitable conditions? If 5 of you in a 2 bed flat isn't "unsuitable" then I don't know what is? Unfortunately though, it doesn't really surprise me at ALL. We are currently on the 'register' for a house from the council/HA - the system is a bit different here, you bid on (express your interest in) houses on the homefinder website. At the moment there are the grand total of 5 houses we're eligable for, 3 you wouldn't put a dog in and the other 2...... well, at the last check there were almost 300 people in a higher priority than us for those 2 houses.
I wish I could help, I really do - you've always been so kind and helpful to me and a great support on my threads. I hope what goes around comes around and something comes up for you and your family soon

BH I am sorry for your circumstances.
I know there is not a lot of social housing about and I know that there are people who would be grateful for it. We were very grateful for it, it's not much fun spending time in a B&B I can tell you.
I am just havimg a pity me day as it's been one thing after another and I just neede a bit of bolstering up from my friends on the board.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0
