It runs XP or Linux and has standard USB ports so there's no reason why it shouldn't connect to printers. It's not going to run games but any software that's not too graphically intensive or processor intensive should run fine.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

• It's printer friendly. I got the baby from Technoworld. They have itl available now. I printed my first Resume through it yesterday. Boy, I am in love with it.
• Hey I forgot to write Technoworld's Christmas discount code in my excitement. That is X-MAS112.

Have fun.

Hi.

Just read a detailed review on Asus Eee PC 701 (PC Pro). Couldn't believe that a PC with an ultra-low weight and an ultra-low price can have so many and such remarkable capabilities.

I can...

You omitted to mention that the display is miniscule (barely twice the size of the iPhone) and only 800 pixels wide which means most webpages will need to be horizontally scrolled to view them.

The Hard drive is miniscule and leaves little room for file storage.

THERE IS NO CD OR DVD DRIVE

It runs Linux so there's no OS to pay for. Downside of that is that not many people know friends who know Linux so you're going to have all hell on if there's a problem.

In short, for £215 it's a DISGUSTING price, especially considering there's no OS to pay for, no CD/DVD drive and very little storage. For another £80 you get a proper laptop with a decent sized screen at a proper resolution with a decent amount of storage space and a CD/DVD writer.

Personally I think people buy them because:
1) They're not going to be using it so haven't thought of the pitfalls.
2) They're doing it to be seen as being "trendy" or "quirky" etc.

Surprisingly, it should be up to Quake 3 as well as a plethora of open source stuff there is for Linux.

Thanks for sharing your feelings. I appreciate. However, I still love the Asus Eee PC.

Cheers.

Actually I mentioned quite a few of the shortcomings of this laptop in my post on the 28th.

The is a (3) to your list:

3) They want one to replace a pocketPC.

And this is most definitely a big improvement (for not much more money) than a PPC.

Just to add....

Found this. It runs on 8 watts of power or 18 watts with a 10" TFT screen and can be run off a solar panel. Prices start at under £200:

That is one seriously underspecified machine, and you thought the eee pc was overpriced?

£199 for
Processor: 200MHz x86 CPU
Memory: 128MB SDRAM
Storage: 2GB (included Compact Flash card)

you could buy an old machine with that spec for around £20!!!

I'll wait for V2 - would be an ideal travelling PC apart from screen-res, looks like plenty of room for a 9" lcd (rumoured spring/summer 2008).
