Is education in the UK a scam ?

Now, housing prices + this debt and this Brexit uncertainty is a great environment for young adults to be in.
So do you think someone on minimum wage should subside your higher education?0 -
Hah. When did you think people had life handed to them? Instead of being a keyboard warrior who wants to have a pop at other countries but also wants to abandon their debt paid for by UK taxpayers so they can go live in a country which has some entirely questionable records on poverty and human rights, what are you actually using that so-called education for? Instead of moaning about what you expect others to pay for and whinging about your entitlements to a better life, get on with changing things. Armchair pundits are ten a penny. You are what is wrong with this country - too many people expect everything handing to them and not enough think they need to do something for it.justcamehere5 wrote: »Sorry, I used to love this country enough to believe its education is built for me to thrive.

I have worked part time since graduating 8 years ago and so far paid nothing back. Might pay a few hundred quid the next few years as I gradually increase my hours and will probably be payong a good whack in 5/6 years once the kids are independant.
However, I had the loans and spent them and dont really mind paying some back. I doubt I'll pay it all off (£18,000) before I reach the cut off age. I wouldnt have been able to go to university at all without the student loans as I didnt have 'mummy and daddy' to fund me. Ive got a decent job and just finished MSc so hopefully have more earning potential than if i hadn't gone to university.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Nope, I just want the UK to have free education for all like Germany. Given that taxation is very similar, I think it is a fair thing to expect.Blatchford wrote: »Hah..
See my reply above.
Hey Germans in the same place as me DID in fact had stuff handed to them.
Not sure why you are hating me so much. I work crazy hours and I am in the high 60s at age 23 so I give a good chunk away in the Basic and Higher tax rate, which I am fine with.
Singapore is just after the UK on the Inequality Adjusted Human Development Index.
Plenty of Conservative-voting business-owning middle-aged trash humans also abuse Eastern Europeans in warehouses across the UK, don't worry chap !0 -
Saying as your education has allowed you to become a high earner, surely its been an investment in your own future?
Why should everyone else pay for it for you?0 -

well can I suggest instead of whinging about it you stand for Parliament so you're in a position to do something about it.

Yes, you should be aggrieved - your use of the English language is appalling. I would be ashamed if my nine year old wrote in such a slovenly way.
Try looking at tuition fees in the USA and thank your lucky stars as you would need two degrees for any professional career and multiple times the cost of your loans.0 -
If you are going to go through life spluttering in indignation and jealousy whenever you feel anyone else has it better, do carry on. I won't join you. I don't feel it would make for a happy life. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
