Hi everyone! I hope it's not too late to join the challenge. I had a £100 stashed aside as a far-fetched car fund but I recently got a new job in London so have no need of that for a while. Hence, a SPC for Christmas seems a much more enjoyable and fruitful idea. Think i'm going to start taking cash out for my weekly shop, rather than paying with card, to help the pot grow.

We always empty our pots and declare our savings in November, please make a note of this year's date: 29th Oct 2020.

Hello Potters! I hope you've all had as good a week as possible and are coming to terms with to this new, very strange way of life. Strange how you can be very normally working indoors or relaxing and all of a sudden it hits you again! Very weird!

For all those Potters who are poorly or low in anyway, take very good care of yourselves and please get well soon!

Naughty you jakes-mum! There's your DH trying hard to protect you, but...! Also, why not put some hand sanitiser on after you leave the supermarkets?? You could easily, and without thinking, touch your face, eyes, mouth etc! Take care of yourself and the family xx [Edit] I was so sorry to read about your DH's Birthday holiday having to be cancelled, very sad indeed. It's good to hear about the great way that Train Line and Premier Inn have been, that's the way to get customs returning. I'm pleased DH's ok after the virus scare though, what a relief.

That woman in the supermarket had a bit of a nerve really as you were in an awkward situation anyway, if you'd left your little lad at home alone you'd have been neglecting him. It makes you wonder what she would have done if it was her! [Edit] Such a shame your school haven't included you in their care, it makes such a difference when folk are thoughtful. Have a good-earned rest over Easter Hetty, sounds as though you really deserve it.

Ah there she is! Hello Lost, I'm so pleased you remembered and found your way home. Very well done with your potting. I hope you washed your hands on the way in as well as on your way out!! Keep very safe and healthy!

It's been a difficult week as I've had a horrible cluster of epileptic seizures. Also I've had a horrible chesty cough for the past 4 weeks, I'm sure it's not an infection, but it's a real pest. It might even be getting used to the new copd inhalers, whatever it's horrible. Thankfully all the family are healthy but we're doing all that needs to be done to try to keep safe. Luckily, our Son-I-L does the shopping for them and for us. Sadly, our darling girl's MS has taken a turn for the worse. Her latest MRI shows she has another lesion on the brain stem, if she gets another there then it will mean she won't be able to walk!! She now has a dilemma about which drug to use as both the ones her Neurologist says she must choose from have terrible side effects, one being a brain disease, the other wiping her immune system out. Life can be hard as we all know. BTW My DH has added another £20 to our IOU by our pot, bless him.

Hi all,

Managed to get a few more coins to pot yesterday - emptying out an old handbag before getting rid, found a pound coin and a few coppers so that's gone in the pot. I am quite looking forward to opening day as I haven't kept a running total of what I've put in so I will have a surprise in October!

Afternoon Potterssssss!
It's DH's big 5 0 today! we may not have been able to take him out for lunch, but we brought the lunch out to him DD and I have been baking up a storm yesterday and this morning, making G/F flapjack and cookies, then it was a big jam and cream sponge cake, a gluten free jam and sponge cake and finally a coffee cake for DH to keep all to himself!  I only make coffee cake on his birthday as its his favourite but no-one else likes it We also had a massive picnic lunch of chicken drumsticks, chicken goujons, sausage rolls, garlic bread, pizza and all sorts of other picnicy bits i'd been hiding away for the last few weeks during each weeks shop.  DD also made him a banner for the wall saying 'Happy 50', it was supposed to say 'Happy 50th Birthday' but her hand was hurting after the Happy
Ahh thank you for your commiserations over DH's birthday trip, we are both a bit gutted but we keep reminding ourselves, its not cancelled, its just postponed! and it gives us extra time to save up spending money!
So sorry about your and your DD's health Sue Hopefully you both hit a good spell soon!

OK! potting news, I got my hands on 4! x £2 coins!! i got very excited when the Aldi worker handed those over!  also various other coinage that i've long since stopped taking any notice of!

60p potted for me.  Went to the corner shop for some milk and the “essential” ice lollies for me and my boy.  They are happy with cash so my change hit the pot 😁

Bless you 32b3, you're so kind, thankfully I'm very much better now thanks. DD is still in limbo with the decision making I'm afraid, though I can understand her reticence, as there's no right choice to make, a case of cross our fingers whichever she chooses! I can quite understand you having very little cash, not exactly an exciting time re collecting cash right now.

PS. Don't forget I haven't forgotten you, though last week I must confess to my head not being straight enough to think about much.

Belated birthday wishes for your DH, jakes-mum! Where's the flippin cake?!!! It sounds as though you had a wonderful day! At least the postponement means you all have longer to look forward to it. 

Thanks a lot for your wishes for DD and I, I'm better at the moment, but DD is still battling with which will be best but getting nowhere. The trouble is, if she goes for the one which could cause the brain disease, she's supposed to be tested every 6 weeks, but as the results have to be sorted out at Norway (or Sweden) it won't be able to happen anytime soon! Not an easy one, but....!
