Our small business is continuing to operate for the moment and we are doing our best to trying to stay optimistic and positive in this ever changing world.  I do have a few pounds to pot today, but like many others, I am trying not to use cash at the moment.
Anyway, take care of yourselves Potters, don't kiss any strangers or lick bats.  Sending lots of virtual hugs :)

    Good evening
I hope everyone is keeping well in these worrying times.
So sorry you had to cancel your holiday Jakes-mum,  you were so looking forward to it, but better safe than sorry.
Stay safe Sue and Family,  your Daughter's hubby has his work cut out looking after you all.
Hope your business can continue to operate for as long as possible siju.
Not much potting being done by me, but not much spending either

As hard as it is,  everyone please stay home and stay safe as much as you can manage <3

    Evening all.
Ages since I posted, naughty me.  Work has been busy and now everything has gone a bit mad, I'm working from home - never thought I would miss the office but I'm already bored.  I'm also finding it weirdly tiring.  There's a limit to what we can do (a team of 12) outside the office as our database - our admin side - doesn't work outside our building, let alone off campus!  Our manager is trying to get that changed but otherwise it's mainly handling emails and incoming grades where we can from our poor students whose placements have just ended abruptly.  So, I've 'lost' some money on my tram pass as they don't give refunds (unless in these circumstances the Govt orders them to) which I reckon comes to about £25 but I already get it at the discounted student rate so shouldn't be too annoyed.  I paid an extra £6.50 to park at work yesterday when some of us went in to deal with stuff that needed our database.  Could've saved about a pound using my car park pass in the NCP but as I left work with 3 carrier bags, a bag of rubbish and my office cardigan it's a good job the car was parked nearby!!
On the plus side, money-wise this should be good for me as I can't exactly go out spending.  Potting-wise, not so much as I can't exactly go out spending.
I'm meant to be seeing 'Riverdance' in April with my mum but I guess that's cancelled, the restaurant I had booked for lunch beforehand is closed until further notice.  I also bought hubby a falconry experience for his birthday and we haven't booked it yet, but I suspect that's going to be difficult for the time being.
Stay well everyone, love and hugs to all in these weird times! x

Hi all SPCers! I hope you'rv all had a reasonable week and are keeping up your spirits. Hard at times I know, but do try.
For all those Potters who are poorly or low in anyway, take very good care of yourselves and please get well soon! Love and hugs to you all. <3

Your last sentence got me giggling, siju 😂 My immediate thought was "not b....y likely! :sunglasses:
I'm glad that, at the moment, you're manage to keep ticking over.
Look after yourself and the family.

    Very well done Chocolatedrinker!
    Keep safe!

A great message (in bold) for everyone to pay heed to, 32b3!!
A change of plans for us, if possible we will try to buy our grocery shopping on line, though it seems as though it'll take some time to do!
You take great care of yourself.

Hello MrsShazbat, lovely to hear your news, though I understand about the things you're unable to do. Poor jakes-mum has had her holiday cancelled, though we're hoping it'll only be postponed as it's a very special one.
    Take care of yourself.

Have a wonderful weekend folks!! Take very great care of yourselves, and keep upbeat amidst the gloom!!

Hi everyone I hope that you are all keeping safe and well.  Got sent home on Tuesday to work from home until further notice.  Had to go back in on Wednesday to collect IT equipment but now I’m working from the front bedroom.  I did have good news on Friday though as I found out I am on the key worker list and school have agreed I also have no other feasible option as I’m a single parent.  Our work still haven’t made a policy on working while caring for your child so I’ve no idea on the expectations.  I feel so lucky that I can take him to school tomorrow.  We are social distancing but as we are both well we don’t have to self isolate.  Spent loads of time gardening this weekend and dog walking and I am listening to podcasts instead of the news.  Have potted a little but just hanging on until payday and I might need some more veg and milk before then.  Very strange times.

  • Chucked another £1.05 into the pot yesterday. Going to have to shake the tin a bit soon as I think one of the very few notes in it has got just under the coin slot making it harder to get the coins in...

Still here, still locked in my own house!  DH had to take me to the supermarket this afternoon, felt like a right rebel breaking out of quarantine for some bread and milk! (EDIT to add, we are NOT sick! we come under the vulnerable people banner)
Also home schooling DD, that's a feat in itself, its been 20 years since I had to learn this stuff! i'm a tad rusty!  :D Along with the school sent stuff i've been throwing in a few life skills, today was 'Home Economics', i.e she made a cake all by herself!  Tomorrow will be textiles, as in she will be learning how to use my sewing machine, this will actually be an ongoing project as she will be making scrap squares that we can then sew together into a quilt, or bag etc.
I got myself a £2 coin, its been in my purse a few days just haven't got round to potting it

OK so no more school for my son.  Even though I’m a key worker because I’m home working the school have asked if I can keep him with me.  It’s fair enough and I fully support them but this evening I’ve been trying to download apps and software and plan a timetable.  Starting the school day with Joe Wicks.  My work have said work around kids when you can.  I’m a bit like Jakes Mum, baking can be maths, gardening  bit of science and history is going to be taken care of by Horrible Histories.  Also my new office would be classed as a H & S nightmare, don’t think an old kitchen chair and a desk made from spare oak worktop is quite the thing.  Hoping to start potting again next month when things have settled down again now work have confirmed I will still get paid even if I’m not managing my full hours; I’m very lucky.

Hi Potters! I hope you've all had a good weekend and are settling in to this new way of life. Have a good week (what's left of it).
For all those Potters who are poorly or low in anyway, take very good care of yourselves and please get well soon! Love and hugs to you all. <3

It's so good to hear, in both of your posts, that you're considering yourself as lucky, Hetty. With folk moaning about all they're losing out on it's a refreshing change to hear from you, jakes-mum too. I think it's great that programmes are being put on YouTube for the kiddies, especially the PE part, at least they know they're doing it along with their friends. It sounds as though you're doing wonderrfully with your work and your little lad, well done you. :)

N.B.  For those paying by card as requested, don't worry about potting right now as it's too risky! I haven't potted anything as hubby and I are unable to get out due to my copd, so I'm putting it on hold - HOWEVER - I'm doing a weekly IOU so I can stock up with the potting when it's all over.

                                                                                      ********************

Good saving Chocolatedrinker, but please don't risk anything. Take notice of the note above.

Well done in your home-schooling, jakes-mum! You're bound to be rusty after all that time, but it sounds as though you're doing well. It's surprising just how much we're able to teach them in the every day household ways, and well done her for the cake making. I'm not a bit surprised you're teaching her how to use your sewing machine, if she's anything like you she will soon pick up on it.

Have a good week folks!! Take care and KEEP HEALTHY, and keep as cheerful as possible!!
