  • Hello
Apologies for not checking in daily but I really do just want to hibernate at the moment and I'm struggling when I get in from work at night.to do anything other than lie on the sofa. I thought that I was getting the bug that seems to be wiping all the schools in the area at the moment but so far this morning it looks as though I just needed some sleep.
Hope all is well with all turtles - particularly thinking of you mothernerd and Toni'sfriend. Calling - you sneaked that in about the date... enjoy!
I have nothing much to report - thank you for all the advice about the flea treatment. I was at the vet the other night, and she told me that consistency is key and that I just need to keep doing what I'm doing. The problem is definitely improving but one cat just seems to keep picking up more - in spite of the house being completely treated. I'm going to give it until new year and if there's still no improvement then I'll sort out a professional house treatment.
Today's plans are mostly to rest - I have been just generally unwell for a couple of days so I am practising the art of self care if possible. Computer, crochet, kids, cats, and Netfl1x. We shall see :rotfl:

I used to work in social care and used to visit people in their own homes and we had several that were infested with fleas but the homeowners insisted they weren't, it turns out that you do become immune to the bite so you don't get the itchy lump.

I would really try the collars, they don't stop the cat getting fleas but the fleas die when they bite them which eventually stops the whole process and they work for about 6 months each, whereas the sprays only kill the fleas when you treat the cat.

Dinner and lunch from freezer apart from some mushrooms bought today. Soup for the Boy's lunches in the slow cooker.

Lots to do next week so better get on with making lists.

No money spent today. Awake early. Took 4 items to the Salvation Army collection point. A lot of cardboard boxes broken down and put in the paper bin. Took books back to the library, collected more and renewed the 2 that were due back on Monday. Meant to go back but never got the chance.

DS3 let his bathwater go this morning, so another wave of loosened sludge came out of the drain. Used a large bin full of rainwater to wash it away from the path then sat shovelling sludge nearer the grid into a large carrier bag for binning. Moved nearer 3 times as I cleared each bit. Grid is now clear of blockages (couldn't clear all the drain holes last time I did it) but water is still staying on top so more blockage still lower down.

DS3 emptied the dishwasher when I asked so another load set off. Haven't done more washing as I still haven't cleared all the other loads even bringing up a few items each time I come back upstairs.

Went back outside just before it got dark and potted up all the ys herbs I bought last week plus the chives next door threw out (divided that and have one indoors and one outside). Ate cauli cheese made by Beloved with some leftover rice.

So much still to do but very tired, may try to finish off the wrapping. Have plans for stuff to take to the library charity bin on Monday and may do another foodbank donation.

Today I am grateful for gardening, for some nice things DS1 said about me on bookface and for having food cooked for me.

Had to use the tumble drier quite a bit yesterday and today, all beds stripped and bedding washed and dried plus lots of towels and clothes, I hate using it but what can you do when it never stops raining.

Christmas Fair in our town today, weather was much better than expected, rainy first thing then just very dark but dry. I have failed in my 'no buying any clothes', I have an addiction and need a support group asap, but at least I don't buy knew and hardly spend any money. Today I got some gorgeous hand embroidered linens and a Christmas table runner, 4 items in total for the princely sum of 50p, a vintage jacket for DH for £2, a mohair coatigan for me and a couple of other clothing items.

Took the dog for a long walk up a very big hill this afternoon. Am going to have a shower and then it's pjs, nachos for supper and wine.

  • Good evening!!!

I'm going to be positive today. I know I have been absent a fair bit and yes... my budget has gone to the wall this month *but* I am still in credit and have managed to shave off money off my debt. I put away money each month for my birthday in November <guilt free> and I just opted to clear my overspend using that, and I still have £110 left :)

I have been grateful for all kinds of things when I sit down and think about it...

    1. My little flat and the car I drive, and my own parking space.
    2. Warmth and shelter, hot and cold running water.
    3. A regular income and everything that affords me.
    4. My health and ability to get around and my independence.
    5. My sight and hearing and other senses.

My mood has been up and down like a roller-coaster this month - but it's on the up and I managed 3 days at the gym this last week which is a massive improvement, and I'm back on track with my healthy eating. Long may it last!!!

Sending lots of love out to everyone

Use up your toiletries and household cleaners before buying any more. - yep

Go on 2 outings - 2 done so far but 1 was free bar parking of 1.10

Donate £5 or time to charity - lots of 'things' donated to various places. Money donated to poppy appeal, CIN, Rotary organisation & Gloucester Cathedral. Have some things ready to send with DS2 to school for food bank as they are running a collection at the end of this month

Come on here every day and post 3 things you are grateful for. - ds2 enjoying his Saturday maths session, the boys being fantastic whilst we helped my sister with her house move, ys items

Start 1 or 2 new habits this month, ones that are simple and will make you feel better - fewer cups of tea and min 4 f&v per day - rubbish
