  • Payday arrived. Im still making random daily payments. Im so so close to the 50% barrier but will need to wait for my agreed standing orders to be paid to do it. Bills are covered but no spare cash this month...
Should be at 50% of my sig amount paid by mid feb.... then im taking a break ti save for stuff i think.

  • The 50% barrier is broken through. Our initial sig of 35213 now has only 49.99% left to pay. Had a statement from sains and it turns out i owed a tiny bit less than i thought so that and d debits has meant ive broken through the halfway point.
17602 remaining to pay. I would love to set a target of another 2 years but im thinking 4-6 is still a challenge but a more realistic one In 1.5 -2 years all of my defaults will drop off. I only have 2 debts remaining oh has 3. I read somewhere the average household debt is about 14 and a half grand. Maybe the next target is to be average :)

  • Great news on breaking the 50% barrier, well done and keep chipping away.

Sad about the average debt figure, definitely think budgeting and household finance should be part of the curriculum, even though my Mum has done accounting and has always been good with money she never taught us thing. My biological Dad is just useless!

Always good when a figure is lower than expected when paying off debt.

  • It is sad isnt it. Our debt was huge and is still higher than average but when you think that may include people withhigh and low incomes some with no debts and some with lots it does may you wonder how many people are in a pickle with money. We still have a long way to go but thankfully im no longer in the bread and butter category for dinner to try to acheive it. :)

Hello all. Ive been away for ages but still here as a lurker. I couldnt figure out finding my diary when the forum changed and just never came back to it. All is ok but the debt figure has gone the wrong way through the 50% barrier eeeekkk. 2 steps forward 3 steps back. Current circumstances havent helped but im not to worried as i will get back on track eventually x

  • Id love to say i paid it all but ive done 3 full and final settlements since jan 2018 which has knocked the debt owed down Theres also been hard graft, hard saving, pay a day and having jobs numbers two and three on top of my day job. In all honestly the main sucess this year was settling a 11000 odd debt for aprox 3350. This really made it possible for me to think that i actually could be debt free...eventually.
hi, how did you manage to settle the 11k debt for 3350k please, who was this with, thx

It was with intrum a debt collection agency. Originally a tesco loan. I offered a very cheeky amount negotiated to slightly higher and settled. I was very surprised at what they agreed.
