313 spent so far on gas and electricity. Our dec prediction was 396 so I'm gonna be under that thank goodness. Between us we have been home a lot more with COVID illness, school break for Xmas so I'm hoping our jan prediction of 402 can be easily easily beaten. Fingers crossed for mild weather eh.

So I went through my diary to see what we owed this time last year. There are decent reasons but we are over double. Oh dear. Here's to the debt going down again in 2023.
First target get mine below 8k.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

Still bank holiday so not much movement on d debits. Gonna take it slow and steady get the debts down and the savings up. Just over 30 in Xmas 2023 fund. 40 in e fund and 200 in bills account.
Xmas fund is made up of penny a day challenge and ideally I would like to build e fund and bills accounts to each have a 500 float. Direct debits and a few extra payments here and there should hopefully see my debts go sub 7 this year as well (preferably below 6.5)Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

That's frustrating about the debt, but it's not due to frivolous reasons, so you'll clear it down again. Making great progress. It seems a very long time between payday and all the DDs coming out this month because of all the bank holidays"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". A d debit came out today so the diary title for once is correct. And some money sent to Xmas 2023 pot.
I've been looking on job sites and have come to the conclusion that although I do love my job it has no prospects, will only increase in pay slightly each year or if minimum wage jumps a fair bit and I can't actually afford now to stay in it.
Think it's time to start looking around. My childcare costs are still high but by Sept we will have a high schooler in the house who if they get there choice of school will walk home. There childcare cost will automatically skip over to lunches, spends and laptop fee for school of choice but at least it's a straight swap not new money to find.
I think you can get in a comfort zone so I might need a push to actually apply for jobs but I'm definitely considering it.
Dry January still dry, weight no idea, not checking till next week and banks still in the plus so money wise doing as well as I can!
We spent 400 in the end on gas/electric in Dec so came in around prediction.
Aiming to beat in January, need to look up my new target !Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213

I'm still dry. Weather still wet. The work on our roof solved half the problem but the damp patch that appears in heavy rain is still with us. Ah well, back to the drawing board.
I Tilly tallied. A d debit came out and I have 40 quid in my e fund. I've signed up to the 1% challenge so can be accountable there.
My gas and electric target is 396 this month apparently. We all had a sickness bug which involved lots of washing and tumble dryer use for bedding and yucky things that needed multiple washes so I'm not off to a good start. I rarely use the dryer so I wonder if a day of hammering it will make a big difference. Hope not. Hopefully all well enough to be at school and work all month so the bill should reduce a bit by itself.
I've set a budget. Still don't know minimum payment for latest cards so will still need a tweak I expect. Will finalize next week and try a soa for any obvious errors.

Annoying about the damp patch. Sick bugs are the worst."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1
