It's so worrying isn't it, everything just goes up so rapidly.  I'm resigning myself to the fact that we're going to have to take on some debt to get some of the work on the house done.  It's so frustrating.
It feels strange to take that debt on again, but the house had really become a need in a lot of areas. when we committed to actually doing the work it was oct so we ķnew things would get tight for everyone but I think we may have underestimated by how much. Its gonna be a close eye on the budget few months I think till I feel more confident again. We have enough to get by I'm just hoping we have enough to get buy without having to cancel the littles swimming lessons.  I suppose experience of a dmp and mse boards means we know where to cut our cloth as they say!

That's true, we've learnt a lot through this process!  I haven't done anything about the work on the house, but in June another of my defaults will fall off, so I might look then at getting a loan for some of the work if we are in a position to get it done.

I've got 2 defaults left to drop off but it's scary how quick the offer of credit flooded in once my personal debts hit 0. (Not inc mortgage) I've planned the debt, hopefully on a temp basis but considering my personal wage is 12.k its shocking what I'm being allowed to borrow so quickly.
Doing working June sounds better. It's cold and draughty now whilst we are getting stuff done. June onwards sounds warmer xx

No tilly tallies today but tidied up the spreadsheet a bit and put meter readings in. We don't have a smart meter gadget so the plan is to put them.in every Sunday morning and see what happens.
Kids not keen on going out today so chill out day I think.

Unproductive day so far in the sense I have been acquiring a refund  for a broken item on delivery. This was the replacement item but was broke in the exact same place as the first one when it arrived so we have given up and asked for a refund.
Stock of everything is in short supply so its a pain that we now will have to go elsewhere and probably pay more. Ah well still way more fortunate than many others in the world so will not complain any further x
    Good day everyone

Bit of a spendy day. Took the children swimming and bought more paint for the house. Clever me budgeted for paint, but silly me forgot to budget for dust sheets, brushes and the little extras. Whoops

So did my meter readings after a week. We have spent 60 pounds this week in gas and electricity. We are off school so more electricity used, we have used heating but definitely we're not boiling hot and we have no hob at the moment so gas should not have been high but it was still a big number. Let's try to reduce that next week and hope the sun comes out a lot. Eeek and fingers crossed for October that cap stays same .... . :)

Oh and we have had excellent builders and trades people so far but the workman who was supposed to start Monday just gone said he couldn't come for another 2 weeks and now it seems he isn't coming at all. I'll leave it there for today as we have no plan yet!

How frustrating about the workman, we've struggled so much trying to get people!

Yes it's very frustrating, our builder is cross too as he recommended him. We've had some building/structural work done, plastering and electrics  which has gone really well. The one due last Monday was to put the kitchen back in. We currently only have a sink on stands in the middle of the room, an oven that should be in a kitchen cupboard ( but is now sat on a table) and everything piled up high all over the rest of the house. Whilst the kids are off. At least when they are on school I can book school dinners
