Martin posted about the NI issue on FB - I can't remember exactly what he said but I think it was along the lines of as long as you earn £6k you are covered for the NI stamps.  Worth checking though as I might not be remembering correctly.

    Found it:
Some have asked me "if the National Insurance starting threshold is increasing, does this mean if I earn less I won't get NI credits' (which are important for pension & other entitlements).
In a word. No. You start accruing those when earning c£6k/yr and thats not changing.

Thats fantastic news, thanks jwill. Sounds like I'm 20 quid better off from July. Every penny counts and 20 quid can be used for a lot.
I will do the soa and fess the debts soon too.
    Happy weekend everyone

So my tilly tallies are going strong.  No soa as I'm,waiting for final figures and estimate from octopus so I can do it properly. House is in disarray with work we are having done but the sun is shining.  Money in the bank for the rest of the work and a little bit for contingencies. Debts pretty high as I've ramped up 2 of the cards as well. Im  hoping to a pay a big chunk off  in 2 to 3 months when we've finished paying for everything but that depends on that extras crop up I suppose and what's left in the pot.

So officially scores are the doors are
    Mortgage 75857.
    Dmp debt dh name 7268
    0% for 6 months 2745
    0% for 18 months 2461.

Number of defaults left in my name is now 2, they will drop June and october

Plan is to have halved the 6 month 0% by its due date or keep to original plan and pay completely after the works if contingency isnt used.
The 18 month 0% would have been aimed to be paid off in the 18 months but I may bounce that around 0% for an extra couple of years if energy cap increases again in oct.

My earlier predictions of being just dmp debt again by xmas may be a bit optimistic as the year of the squeeze as it was called in Jan is gonna be worse than a squeeze me thinks.

It's amazing and scary how quick the debt has ramped up again but it's house, building, and material things as opposed to clothes,.meals out and frivolities. Like that makes a difference 😆 🤣
    Anyway enough waffle for today

Hailstone today, no sunshine. Some bills today to go out today so will do tilly tallies after to round down.
I reduced the heating timer  then the hailstone came. Ah well I tried. I'll see how we get on

Feels slightly sobering seeing the numbers i posted yesterday but I've overestimated all quoted costs by 10% on my spreadsheet and guessed at 1000 contingency for extra things that crop up. I can but hope that we have some.of this left over when we are finished to stick back on the cards.

Everything is going up by a shocking amount though. The sink we paid 145 for 6 weeks ago is now selling for 209. White goods have been literally going up week on week. We looked at something one day the next day is was 40 quid more. Its a sign of things to come, hopefully it all calms down soon.

It's so worrying isn't it, everything just goes up so rapidly.  I'm resigning myself to the fact that we're going to have to take on some debt to get some of the work on the house done.  It's so frustrating.

More work done in the house today and even though we have quotes I panic when I see how much we are having done about what it will cost. I think I'm picking up on the nations anxieties about bills. Topic of conversation today with everyone was the meter readings. Radio was even calling it happy meter reading day !
Anyway I'm off to Tilly tally. Heating on again as we have sunshine hailstone and sleet 😀

Still cold today but the sun is shining, direct debit and tilly tallies sent to debts. Money still set aside for house works and I'm being strict at not dipping in.
Woke up to an error message on the boiler but you tube videos saved the day so all fixed with no panic

So in the midst of all our chaos I've bought a first Xmas present. Girls make up dress up type set. 3 pounds yesterday, saw it in a link as on special offer. Price today is 19 pounds so hopefully I have bagged my first bargain. Bit early but may as well start somewhere. 😀
Meter readings taken at 11 o clock last night to get the last lot in as cheap as possible. Wondering how long to leave before I look again. Maybe should say a day each week so I don't become obsessed ha ha
