I've just got back from DS2s first IEP review in high school!!!
They have taken him off the SENSS support, but he is still having the SENCO work with him.. he is 12 in January.. has a reading age of 12y 3m+, vocabulary 11yr 8m and a spelling age of 10yrs... this is the child who couldn't read at all 4 years ago.. wasn't even entered for the KS1 SATs because he was unable to read the questions let alone write the answers.
I am absolutely delighted with his apparent progress.
Unfortunately they hadn't had any of his records through from primary school, but that at least meant the staff were not biased by having prior information. They looked at him as he is, his capabilities right now. I did have to make them aware of a lot of things which they simply couldn't have been aware of.. his social development delay for example, the severity of his dyslexia, which made his overall progress much more admirable. They didn't realise how bad his dyslexia or his dyspraxia are. They didn't know he has no sequential memory.. one thing at a time or else he forgets everything. They also had no idea that he can't tell the time, despite us trying and trying for years!! They are also (hopefully) going to make it compulsory for him to use the keyboard at school for ALL his written work but he has to hand write his homework. He is to have 4 spellings a week to learn based on the words he has spelled wrong the previous week. The staff are also ALL going to be made aware that he cannot write fast and is to be using his alphasmart and they are going to make sure he wears his glasses.. the ones they didn't know he needed!!! .. Silly boy!! I also have to send in his coloured acetates to help with his reading.. really he should be rechecked.. I'll nag about that later! lol
I have asked if it is ok if we add alarms to his phone for when he has his extra lessons and music lessons.. the phone only does one bleep so it isn't as disruptive as having a teacher come in the class to collect him every time. I also asked for a copy of his timetable to be emailed to me and also the swimming and sailing dates.. he takes swimming stuff every week because he can never remember when it is he is going lol.
On the whole progress is looking great and I am REALLY pleased with him.. he is doing fantastically well given the issues he has.
He even has friends!!
Then I went shopping.. I spent £170 in boots and paid £57!! I love pigsback and 342's and freebies!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Pigpen, sounds like he's made some great progress
well done to him, and you for being so supportive of him.
Thinking about sexymouse, hope it's going well......I hate waiting for news!
Right, KITCHEN DONE, level 3 apart from the floor which needs another vacuum (darn dogs) got on my hands and knees and did the step aswell, I hate that step. Fridge, well it'd all gone PINK! Beetroot must have leaked, pink mushrooms anyone? Also managed to cross 6 things off the shopping list as I have some of the things I had written.
Oh question, what is your fridge temperature set at? The one in the garage is on 4 degrees, but this morning, frozen carrots, pears and kiwis! Other stuff seems fine, just the fruit/veg drawer it seems. Have always had it at 4....wonder if it's playing up....
Right, floors to vacuum in living room, dining room, kitchen, conservatory and utility, then I think it'll be time to go and get DS2. Bother need to get the freecycle stuff out of the carI even got a tv/video combi, DS1 will be so pleased as our video player broke ages ago and he can't watch his land before time videos.
Oh 10p listing day on Thursday if you accept paypal getting DP to have a clear out this time! One day I might be more organised...........

Hello everyone!
I can put lil_me out of her misery now - it was nice to know that so many people were thinking of me. The headteacher seems really nice, and 5 of the existing staff completed their NQT years at the school and have stayed on, so it's nice to know that I would be well-supported. The school seems really nice - very small and all open-plan, which I'm not so keen on, as it means that if you do have to tell a child off, then everyone can hear, but the best news of all, is that I'm the first person to express an interest in the position! I've taken home the application pack, and will ask one of the schools that I've been supplying in tomorrow, if they would mind being a referee for me as the headteacher advised me to do this as my uni references etc would be out of date.
The position isn't due to start until February and will end August 31st (paid over summer holidays), but the head said that there is a chance that if they employ me, that she could speak to personnel and find out if I could start in January and then I could get 2 terms done of my induction. She seemed very positive - just hope I don't get pipped to the post by someone who is experienced, as it is obviously open to fully qualified teachers too.

Thanks Lil_me what a great thread, I've been mooching for a while with interest. Last week I printed a copy of the week before so I could follow some of your tips. I already do all of the 'basics' vac polish etc.. but all those jobs I never got round to because I have't got time are now fitted in a bit at a time with my usual cleaning routine. Well, what have I done?
- cleaned oven
- cleaned oven drawer
- cleaned washer drawer
- windows done
- cupboards started but not yet finished
Its amazing what few extra things you can do without actually having to make more time! Thanks again for the inspiration!LBM 17th April 2007:j

been a lazy day but i think that is what i have needed as i am still not feeling right.
monday:- [STRIKE]ring nursery to tell them about charlie's eyes[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]make and go to drs appointment for me[/STRIKE] according to him, medically i am fine and it is just one of them things. So rest i think as i have been running around like a looney again recently.
- talk to sisters further about xmas presents and then order some more on line
- pay nursery bill for the week when we get there eventually
- return nursery t-shirt we have here
- check 7G scheme of work is ok to teach
- put the updated version onto the computer at work
- take bottle of wine in to work for cheese and wine night
- mark y8 h/ws and books
Rang work and told them i would be off till thursday at the earliest. Why put myself through the stress of another inspection when i am obviously not right.
Also, popped to mum and dad's with sister. She was watching charlie for me so i could take it a bit easier, bless her as her own little one is being a bit of a handful at the minute.
back home now, and plan to do very little. Will need to send some work into school for tomorrow and may try and do some for wednesday as well. Also have to transfer the money for the car into ILs bank account, and then pay the debenhams card bill that arrived today.
otherwise i am going to get my feet up for a bit and then see what that makes me feel like.
Michelle, x0 -
Glad to hear there is nothing "serious" wrong Michelle and glad to hear you are taking some time out to catch your breath - PLEASE make sure you do!
Nothing done today apart from feed my face, do jigsaws and slope off to bed for hour and half with littley. Which I do feel better for as from 3.30am I think I managed to get another hours sleep in 5 and 10 min lots. Got the tixilix on the go. I bought the lloyds chemist paracetamol too and it smells foul (I by the expression on littles face tastes worse), she is not impressed wants to know where the pink one is.
DD1 is currently entertaining her dancing to xmas music, DD2 is curled up on the couch with pillow and duvet so she does feel rough bless her. DH staying late at work to play table tennis (wish i had a social life:rolleyes: ) so easy tea planned. Hoping todays wash will be dry so I can keep up to date with the ironing. Also need to photo some brio etc train track the girls dont play with - I will have space for all their new playmobile stuff;) .
Anyway enough waffle, basically to sum it up no flying today:o
SM - Did you request the visit to the school or did they suggest it? If it was your request I would have thought that would have impressed them that you wanted to see what "they" were about. Good luck anyway, after JULIEJIM and RACH's job successes we are due more good luck - they power of Flylady0 -
What do you use to clean your kitchen floors? I use flash and I did have a vileda sponge magic mop thing, but it disintegrated really quickly, and was never very good for cleaning the tiles in my bathroom either which have slight dimples in them to prevent slipping. What do you recommend I buy to replace the binned mop? It was one that looked like this:
Just noticed Shell's question - most schools advertise that visits are welcome, and nowadays, they are almost expected, but you're right, it can't hurt to show my enthusiasm whilst on the visit, and slip in a few things about myself so that they look out for my application.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170
