Have you tried shouting obscenities down the phone, it works every time for me.

Sorry I should have clarified, we block the numbers as soon as they call. The calls then come from completely different area codes. None of them are 0114. Every time we block one, a new one tries. It is very frustrating and my wife is on the verge of paying because of this.

Is there no GDPR way I can stop the calls? Surely it is against the GDPR to phone about a debt that not even owed as we don’t know who was the driver?

Are you certain it's from vermin about the ticket.

Either block the number on your phone or ignore the calls

No, just block that number.

Block the number!
Did that give you a clue as to what to do?

Thanks, but as per post 41 when we block the number they just call back a few hours later off of a different random number.

I think we are going to pay to stop this, my wife has already had two calls this morning from two new numbers. Both blocked and not answered but it’s getting too much for her now and she’s panicking about when the next phone call is going to come through.

That would be a great shame. Before you do, any chance you can give us a few of the numbers ?

OK, answer one and find out who it is, stop running scared. Then if it is about this claim, tell them this phone is sometimes answered by a child (or vulnerable adult, whatever you prefer to say that has some truth) and that they MUST now cease and desist with phoning.

You might find it's nowt to do with the PPC. I did a MacMillan Coffee Morning and was bombarded with calls from them beforehand...not good practice by them IMHO.

I get three or four calls a week telling me my internet connection is about to be cut off.

Yesterday I had a call telling me that I was about to be arrested for tax evasion.

Several calls tell me that £600 has been put on my credit card/paypal account.
After they have called they usually wish that they had not. You need to play hardball with them.

I love those calls from 'BT Openreach' and toying with the scammer on the line.

What will you do if you pay the charge but the 'phone calls don't stop?
Do you have any proof the calls are actually from the scammers?
