Refund for training course

What a wonderful training company that works on a Sunday morning. You should name and praise them.0

I explained to the training provider I get hemiplegic migraine and that was one of the reasons I couldn’t go in. The person I spoke to was really understanding and allowed me to reschedule for November for a charge of £50.
Thank you! :rotfl: :A
So basically you lied to them about the reasons for missing the second two days? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

RainingRoses wrote: »Hi, Firstly apologies if I posted in the wrong category, I couldn’t find the right topic for my post so I chose one best suited. Anyway, it’s a bit complicated but I’ll try to keep it as short as possible.
So I booked a SIA door supervisor license (security) online. The course is 4 days, I went in for 2 of the days but missed the last 2 days because I was unwell. I contacted the training provider ( Get Licenced) and they said based on the situation “just this once” and as a “goodwill gesture” they’ll allow me to reschedule without paying a reschedule fee (which I believe is £90).
So I was given the next available course date for the 2 days, and I’ll be honest I completely forgot about it as the rescheduled date was about a month later.
My issue is that I now can’t get a refund or another reschedule date, which is extremely unfair as It was £220 for the course and I couldn’t attend all of it as i was unwell. ( I get severe episodes of migraines preventing my ability - which is why I couldn’t go in).
I did read the terms and conditions on their cancellation and refund policy and I think it’s ridiculous.
Realistically speaking, I’ll probably never be able to get my money back as it’s states in their t&c’s but it’s more of the Principle - the fact I can’t be refunded for something I purchased. Even if I do go to the small claims court or whatever I wouldn’t win. Because of all this the law need to be updated, you can get a refund on a faulty Tv for example but not a training course? Companies are exploiting and taking advantage of your money because there’s nothing stopping them.
I’ve complained to Trading standards and contacted BBC watchdog regarding this.
I posted on here specifically as I didn’t know what else to do and I’ve seen a lot of posts with really helpful responses so I thought it’s worth a shot
.
Any help will be much appreciated
Fairly sure you're a wind up merchant so I'm out.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

That's perfectly fair, why should the training company lose out on money just because your friend was in hospital, that's certainly not the training companies fault.
This is why you buy insurance if your concerned about potential losses.
You can’t get insurance on training courses mate. The only thing closest to insurance for the course is ‘assurance’ where you pay a little extra ( which I believe they did) to be able to reschedule up to 24 hours before you start, which I believe is fair. Although my friend’s situation is more complicated and he was told he can’t get a refund despite it not being his fault.
So you’re saying even if you’re in hospital for something that’s not your fault ( eg. Medical condition, getting hit by a car etc. ) you still think it’s fair to still have to pay?. Okay...0 -

I think it's not fair for the company to pay.
So who should pay?0 -

OP
Can I strongly suggest you put multiple remainders into place.0 -

Thanks
Well given you've been extremely lucky to get the company to let you attend the last two days again because you forgot to attend the last time they let you rearrange, if I were you, I'd be making damn sure I didn't forget this time0 -

Yes I’ll attend this time. Last time I did forget but I had a lot to do too preventing me from attending so forgetting wasn’t 100% the reason exactly.
Thanks
