Refund for training course

  • I’m just glad I didn’t book the personal protection course, which I wanted to do, as I would’ve lost £2000.

That would have been a total waste of £2k. You are wholly unsuited to personal protection.

How on earth do you forget a career/work related course?

You want a refund even after being comped a second course in recognition of your illness.

You want the law changed so people who simply forget to attend something can get their money back.

Just how many bites of this particular cherry are you expecting?

    This can't be real.
  • Hi, Thank you for your reply and thanks for taking the time to read through my post.
I do understand and appreciate what you’re saying, but my point is that I couldn’t attend for a reason that’s not entirely my fault, as I said I have frequent migraines and Hemiplegic ones affecting my ability. I mean why should I have to pay again?Maybe I didn’t explain myself to well as I’m trying to say this is unfair you SHOULD be able to receive at least a partial refund in certain circumstances.

I hope you can see my point of view, but regardless thanks for your response. :)

But that’s not why you failed to attend when they graciously allowed you to reschedule, you say above that you simply forgot.

Why should they give a refund for you forgetting? Would you expect a refund if you forgot to repeat a takeaway meal, or a refund for a flight if you forgot to turn up?

It’s the same principle here, they provided the service as per the agreement, you didn’t bother to make a note in your diary, and so a place went un-used.

Morally they are completely in the right here, it is not right if you to expect a refund for simp,y not turning up for no good reason.
  • Hello. Firstly have to say I do agree with most people on here and you most likely won’t get your money back. But I can understand your view. I’m a nurse and I used to get restricting migraines all the time so know how you feel. The people who replied probably don’t get migraines so won’t understand as it is one of those things you need to experience to know what it feels like.
My advice would be just to contact the training the training provider again explaining the situation.
Good luck and let us know how it goes. x :)
He didn’t miss the rescheduled course for a migraine, he simply forgot.

It would be a waste of anyone's money.
Continuation of the constant stream of highly improbable threads .
  • Hi Guys, thanks for the replies. Just an update: I contacted the training provider and I think I’m able to rescudule the course for a small fee ( which is what I wanted to do at first but was told I couldn’t). I’ve booked the last 2 days of the course for next month. As for my condition, yes I appreciate and can understand why some of you might be thinking why am I doing a security course if I’m unwell?
Well, firstly I’m not going to use my condition as an excuse to purposely avoid work. Also I’m working on them now, I’ve been prescribed preventive migraine medication from my doctor.

Also just wanted to say, as I said in a previous post, I’m also querying on behalf of a friend. He lost over a thousand for failing to attend to a course as he was in hospital. He never was given a refund or reschedule - now that’s unfair.

    Thanks for the responses :)

Hi, Thanks for understanding, much appreciated. Because of my migraines I’m often left misunderstood. I explained to the training provider I get hemiplegic migraine and that was one of the reasons I couldn’t go in. The person I spoke to was really understanding and allowed me to reschedule for November for a charge of £50.

    Thank you! :rotfl: :A

That's perfectly fair, why should the training company lose out on money just because your friend was in hospital, that's certainly not the training companies fault.
This is why you buy insurance if your concerned about potential losses.
