I’d also like to point out that I was never given the trainer’s contact details ( I was told I would, which would’ve made life easier, so I had to call the company directly and I was in the call queue for ages.
And to the person who said £220 isn’t necessarily worth complaining about, to a certain extent I do agree with you but like I said it’s not so much the price more the Principle. I’m also sorting this on behalf of a freeing who lost a lot more than me in a similar situation.

You would have had to speak to the training company directly in any case to reschedule. So you only needed to make one phone call instead of two, had you called the trainer first.

I'm afraid you broke the contract, not them.

And look at it rationally: Whose fault is it that you were ill? Certainly not the training provider's.

I don't see how you're entitled to a refund for the days you missed. They have already shown flexibility and goodwill so any small claims action you instigate is likely to be unsuccessful.

Is there a possible concern about your migraines and your planned work in security? Is it something you'd have to declare to an employer and one which might prevent you working in certain settings or that might cause a concern for their insurance? Worth checking.

Hi, Thank you for your reply and thanks for taking the time to read through my post.
I do understand and appreciate what you’re saying, but my point is that I couldn’t attend for a reason that’s not entirely my fault, as I said I have frequent migraines and Hemiplegic ones affecting my ability. I mean why should I have to pay again?Maybe I didn’t explain myself to well as I’m trying to say this is unfair you SHOULD be able to receive at least a partial refund in certain circumstances.
I’m just glad I didn’t book the personal protection course, which I wanted to do, as I would’ve lost £2000.
I hope you can see my point of view, but regardless thanks for your response. :)

I'd agree with you if it was the first time round when you were ill.
But you didn't miss the second two days because you were ill, you missed them because you forgot. Different ballgame.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

This is another one of those threads, isn't it..
I don't even understand why the op paid as its quite easy to get the course paid for.
  • Hello. Firstly have to say I do agree with most people on here and you most likely won’t get your money back. But I can understand your view. I’m a nurse and I used to get restricting migraines all the time so know how you feel. The people who replied probably don’t get migraines so won’t understand as it is one of those things you need to experience to know what it feels like.
My advice would be just to contact the training the training provider again explaining the situation.
Good luck and let us know how it goes. x :)

  • When you become qualified bouncer....

Will you accept not be paid your salary for a night of door supervision, if, for example, the club has less people visit than the establishment had hoped....
  • The provider made the course available, thus upheld their side of the deal.
You weren’t there - the reason isn’t their issue, your health problems are not their concern and I’m genuinely struggling to understand a scenario where anyone would think a company has any responsibility to you because you’re ill.

Your health problems are just that - your problem. Not theirs.
I’m sorry but you (rightly) have absolutely no recourse here.

This is actually the most salient point
I was given the next available course date for the 2 days, and I’ll be honest I completely forgot about it as the rescheduled date was about a month later.

The bumf about your headache is irrelevant. You couldn't attend 2 days and they rescheduled for you at their own expense. You took up a place they could have sold to someone else.

You then forgot to turn up and so want your money back.

All I can say is that this is a dreadful wind up thread. Surely you could have come up with something better?

So I booked a SIA door supervisor license (security) online. I went in for 2 of the days but missed the last 2 days because I was unwell.

So I was given the next available course date for the 2 days, and I’ll be honest I completely forgot about it

Why do you keep going on about your health being a reason for being about to reschedule. They were generous enough to let you do that

You also say your health issues are not your fault. They are not the fault of the course provider

Your reason for not attending the second course was that you forgot. Why should the course provider keep turning away paying customers to give you more opportunities when you can’t be bothered to attend
