Dd was due her 2 weekly appt with Superdoc last Friday. We recieved a phone call from the surgery to let us know he would be phoning at her appointment time for a telephone consultation.
Although she hates talking on the phone she managed well as she now trusts him.
He checked her temperature and did a full run down of how things were.
He doesn't want either of us going into the waiting room during the present situation. He'll keep checking on the phone and all her prescriptions will be handled by our registered pharmacy.
We're welcome to phone the surgery between telephone appointments if needed and he will phone back.
Should dd develop the virus he'll move her to a hospital near the School of Tropical medicine in another area.
As the phone appt came as we were getting ready to go to the surgery we didn't think to ask if all GPs will be doing the same or different versions. I'll find that out though.
I hope something similar will be in place for those immune supressed or in other at risk groups.
Once the weather picks up I'll concentrate on growing veg, fruit and herbs if we're isolated. I've got a lot of seeds and the last year or so the growing has fallen by the wayside. my neighbours are far enough away for it not to impact them.
She's finally back on the Methotrexate after a break over the past month. So back to getting adjusted to it.
    Take care all.

I'm losing the will to go on! I've spent today on the NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificate phone line trying to renew dds certificate which expires on the 26th March. Her next meds are due on the 27th. With 19 repeats and add ons it's unaffordable to pay upfront and hope to claim the cost back. Until a few years ago I was talking to a human, nowadays it's press buttons. I know I've pressed the right buttons but the line kept cutting out. So much for self isolation! I'll have to do it at the pharmacy which defeats the object of protecting both dd and myself. Oh for the days when things worked.
    Hope everyone is ok.

Thank god we don't pay for prescriptions!! I hope you get that sorted out xx
Husband had a triple bypass mid Nov and today he's been very tired, quite an odd colour, and says his heart is going mad,. bumping and banging. Phoned the surgery at 5pm and he is to go down at 8am tomorrow when they open, for a heart scan and bloods. Hoping he is ok as the virus is quite enough to be going on with, without him as well.

My husband has needs for medical supplies right now and we did the 3 month PPC online for him (year one was not needed), all we needed was his NHS number which was on NHS letters so easy enough to find. If that is what you are on about then is that not an option?
Also with the ap echo you can get your medications delivered to you. You tell them your GP etc and they converse with them about the medication when you order it through the ap to make sure it prescribed to you etc. Makes the process much easier.

I'll have to go to the pharmacy against Drs orders Mar. No way can I pay upfront for all those prescriptions. They can take the payment over the counter and order the certificate. I'm furious wih the phone system. For years it was done in minutes with the human on the other end of the phone. I'm a great believer in If it aint broke don't fix it but so called "Progress" carries on.
I'll be lighting the candles and sending love and light to you both. Maybe he's just anxious which wouldn't be suprising in the doom and gloom right now. I'll be thinking of you both and hoping all is well.
Have you figured out what to do about shopping? Any chance K can help there? I hope things are more settled now. I meant to get back to you but things have been hectic.
The current situation has brought me back here. I've read so many extreme posts on the forum re the Corona and notice MSE have now put a message up on the subject.
Hopefully those affected or concerned can chat here in a calmer manner. Take care of you too.

    Hello all,

Can you not renew online Polly? I'm only on my first year (started work again last April) so I haven't had the trauma of trying to renew mine yet. I have my candles lit too.....love and strength to you all.

Mar, I hope the RV is alright. I'd be setting an alarm to check on him through the night if I were you, but then again I am a worrier. What about amaz0n prime for your shopping? Just cluching at straws but they do a free 30 day trial and deliver all sorts of grocery stuff.

I'm sat here tonight looking at the advice to self-isolate. I have asthma and high blood pressure. I also have a job that can't be done at home and a 15 year old who still has to go to school. John Moore's university has ended face to face teaching - the students have been told they can stay home and don't go back until September. I've seen something online that said Durham uni have said the same. Mass gatherings are banned yet my son can sit in a maths class with 39 other children, sigh.

It's lovely to hear from you Cranky. I no longer bank online. I had two massive hits on my CC . First time was a key logger although there's high security on my laptop. Muliple purchases of expensive stuff all over the uk at the same time. I wasn't at home when it happened and got home to a message from the bank to contact them. They'd picked up on it after the first few and blocked the cards but thousands had been spent and it was a long process to go through the reclaim. When I phoned I had to answer questions. Was I in Milton Keynes that day? Edinburgh? Londo? and other places?
I was shaking on the phone but when they asked if I'd spent £136 on cupcakes in the Primrose bakery I was so appalled According to dd who was screaming with laughter I sounded like Lady Bracknell . £136 for cupcakes I screamed , I could make thousands for that.
Card was hit again a few years later and then my bankcard and I gave up.
From memory it's straightforward renewing the PPC online and it's certainly worth doing if you need a number of meds.
I can't see the sense in keeping schools etc open. I know they consider children recover fast if they don't have underlying health issues but they can pass it on to families and strangers in the meantime.
It's all too little, too late. An underfunded NHS for the past 10years has created a perfect storm.
With your and the HTs health conditions you do need to be careful. Is it a cafe you work in? I can't remember but I seem to think you cook. Nothing is very clear cut at the moment regarding paying those who would be better minimising exposure. We seem to be waiting daily for another drip feed of not very clear info. Couldn't organise a you know what in a brewery comes to mind.
    Take care of you both.

Sorry D&G I missed your post. I don'thave the online option now as I 've just explained to Cranky. Now Superdoc has the plan in place the pharmacy will be delivering the meds. I hope you're both ok. It's quite a while since I've seen you here.

Yes, I work in a cafe. I'm mostly in the kitchen though and I've been washing dishes only for 2 weeks as I had a cold and the steam really helps. I didn't pass the cold on (not even to the HT) because I warned everyone to stay away from me. I wear gloves for dishwashing and I face the wall....then everything goes in a very hot dishwasher once I've washed them and the other girls unloaded the trays and put stuff away.

I haven't had an asthma attack since I've been there. When I feel a bit wheezy 4 hours over a big bowl of steaming water really does help. We've been much quieter this past week too. I'm hoping a general lockdown will co-incide with a school close down then I'll feel much safer.

That sounds ok Cranky workwise for now. I know what you mean about steam dd is asthmatic, I have chronic bronchitis and we both have bad sinus issues. Some olbas in steam or a hot shower - neither of us can manage the bath these days- helps a great deal. It seems a delay in forcibly shutting some businesses down which would kick in insurance for companies to close on a temporary basis and pay staff is the problem. It sounds as though your job is beneficial for both your physical and mental health.
Dds boyfriend has been mainly working from home over the last few months and has been emailed today to stay home until further notice. He'll be working at home and will benefit from saving on bus and train travel 20 miles each way.
He works for the NHS and is part of the team building the new NHS website and they can use conference calls etc so he's glad he made the move from our local hospital and went where his talents are useful.
I'm hoping those like yourself who have returned to work will be taken into account with some sort of payments. It's not your fault this situation has come about and they need to consider the effects on mental health and wellbeing.
