Has the snow gone yet Mar? We had heavy rain but sun has now come out and the winds are lighter. Some respite before Dennis .
I'm feeling a lot less achy today which yet again shows the effects weather can have. I intended to go back over the long previous thread and post some of the useful hints and tips that were posted. I;m hoping to start looking back through part 1 at the weekend internet permitting. I remember you did post from time to time on there along with Fuds, WCS, Kittie and others. There were so many good ideas it's worth going back and putting some here.

  • Katieowl I've done a search back on the original thread for Lame Wolfs posts as she found a number of online sites useful when her husband was diagnosed. Last post on there was 8th April 19. She does pop up from time to time on Flylady or The Garden Fence. It used to be easy clicking on a user name to find previous posts but it now seems the only option is to trawl backwards through the pages of posts . There were a lot so like looking for a needle in a hatstack to find the info.

  • Internet has been a nightmare since the first storm and still a problem. I seem to have a little at the moment so take care all I will be back at some point. Spent today trying to locate the instructions for the tv to do the update. No luck so far, somewhere among all the paperwork it will be hiding. Mind you tv is 13 years old . I don't watch a lot but am grateful I got to watch the final episode of Good Omens on Wednesday before BBC channels changed today.
Hope everyone is coping with weather, tv updates and any internet problems plus the usual day to day stuff.

Welcome back Tink it's good to see you here. I was thinking of you and the family on Christmas day and remembering our discussions about not needing to go overboard at such times to keep up with those splashing the cash and ending up often in debt as a result.

I pictured you all with your warm blankies, hot chocolate and simple family fun. I hope you all had a relaxing time.

I'm glad the break from work is helping. The planning you did in advance on your Losing a wage thread along with your Slow Cooker and Simple Life threads was such a good idea rather rhan going headlong into dropping an income . Well worth the preparation . I hope you're both ok and your husband is enjoying his new job. Your little ones will be a bit bigger now so are hopefully still mucking in at home and working alongside you in the garden when the weather is good.

I've never tried GF but I see Mar has mentioned her experience. Losing weight is beneficial healrh wise but a lot can be done via dog walking, growing your own ( combines exercise and healthy eating) and general pottering about.Hope your parents are well and look foward to seeing more of you here.

It's obvious winter has an impact on this thread . I think this winter it's been the quietest year so far. In time it will be good to see former friends return with their hints and tips and comments on day to day life.
    Look after you.

Polly Christmas was lovely as the kids were so happy with what they had! We did a list of what we had bought so they both had the same and we kept an eye on the pennies too. Got my food shop in with a discount voucher out of the paper and we had more than enough for our bunch!

i have just defrosted the little freezer as we have eaten through our batch cooked stores, so planning on cooking and filling it up again!

off to catch up with everyone else as a lot has been posted since I last popped in!

Good to see this thread continued - thanks polly:)
My PIP was reassessed in November, no change on the award but slightly more points. I did feel this time the assessor had a better handle on fluctuating conditions which made for an easier interview.
2019 was a bit of bumpy year in my personal life and 2020 has started on a similar vein but thankfully I feel more in control of my condition and have got a lot better at acknowledging when I can/can't do things in myself which although doesn't change anything is helpful from a well-being perspective.
It's too early in the year here to do much in the garden but I have plans:D (and plenty of seeds :rotfl:).
My PIP is currently being reassessed, such a stressful time when I have a progressive illness. I am never going to get better but they make people just through all these hoops. Really makes me mad!

Hi to everyone, it's lovely to see this thread active and full of people again!

I've had a little catch up but find the new forum a bit difficult with replies etc so I'm still getting used to it.

It has been half term and I'm really pleased we have eaten out of the freezer this week, this is using up all the odd bits and saving money, whilst I have defrosted the little freezer ready to fill up again.

I'm back on the GF, I don't really eat much of the shop bought stuff as it's all really expensive, I do buy wraps and maybe the odd packet of biscuits tho :)

Going to batch cook some things and try to get ahead next week when the kids have gone back to school. I've been thinking:

    • Spag Bol
    • Chilli
    • Fajita chicken bags (ready to be used it wraps)
    • Soup

That should start me off, don't want to do too many things like casseroles etc as hoping for an improvement in the weather but may do one if I get some meat on offer.

Having a rest day today as it's been a hard week and I've done a bit too much so needing to recoup before Monday rolls around again.

    Tink :)

It's good to hear all is going well Tink. How's it going with the PIP?
My brain has been pretty foggy and we've had a lot going on. Dd had a vomiting bug which was joined by flu. I caught the flu but thankfully not the vomiting bug.
We had a spell of isolation and the store cupboards are pretty run down which isn't good in the present situation. I don't often shop in Waitrose but I've remembered I have some £100 JL gift cards. My eldest dd sends me them for birthdays etc. There was nothing I needed from JL so I'm planning to do an online WR order. If they've anything left in store!
I've always made sure there were stocks at home as we never know when we wont be well enough to shop but I've taken my eye off the ball this time.
Hope all are well. Something that occurred to me is those with chronic health issues are used to weighing up the weather and other things so choose their battles whenever possible.
I must admit I was going stir crazy with the self isolation. Dd was too ill to care. However we've worked out we'll need more books.
I've stopped ordering books online as my postman has been ill and the replacements weren't putting orders in the safe place when we were out. We have a Remainder Book Shop and a branch of the Works on the high street.I can get 3 recent paperbacks in one for £5 and 2 for £5 in the other. It;s much cheaper than the Amazon seller I always bought from and no need to be around for delivery.
I'm going to make a drink and will post later about the plan our GP has put in place during the Coronavirus situation. It may differ according to surgeries but it's put our minds at rest.
    Take care

The annual reminder of Prescription Charges.
The cost of each prescription item will increase by 15p to £9.15 on April 1st 2020.
3 month Prepayment Prescription charge  will increase by 55p to £29.65.
12 month Prepayment Prescription charge has finally increased by £1.90 to £105.90.
There is also the option of paying by direct debit.
For those who don't qualify for free prescriptions it's worth looking on the NHS website as some conditions mean prescriptions are free.
