tboo said:pollyanna_26 said:So many other people come into schools apart from staff and pupils.Parents or carers, Local education, CAHMS and umpteen others it makes no sense not to have an overall policy in place now.Over the last few days we have had numerous text messages from my youngest daughters schoolParents are not allowed inside schoo and no parent assembles or parent mass for now.We anticipate a closure soon and laughingly DDs teacher is calling BJ a coward (no idea why he is), showing this attitude in front of 10/11 year olds is frightening but she is a little bit highly strung, she's possibly hoping for extra time off seeing it's nearly Easter holsI've no idea about some present day teachers but as a former teacher that seems out of order. Not knowing her I can't begin to judge. it's good school is limiting access but I believe it wont be long before all schools close. Unis and colleges are already doing so too.I believe the problem has been the very slow feed of useful info from the GMent. It's taken until today to offer any useful pointers to those losing income as a result of work closures and there are still many unknowns not addressed. It seems to me we're living in Sir Terrys "Interesting times"Take carepollyIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Husband to get an appt at the hosp, we waiting a letter. In meantime if he "gets any pain AT ALL then dial 999, don't wait" - which is reassuring him to hell lol. Irregular heartbeat Polly, heart rate sometimes hitting 135 and he can't relax or sleep properly.Meanwhile I'd be pulling my kids out of school right now if I had any that age. We are not sheep and we don't need to wait to be told by a clueless shower in Downing St what to do. As mums. we should do what we feel is right. No kids=no school.5

Morning Mar. How are things with you both?I;m losing the plot here not being overanxious apart from worrying about youngest who Superdoc told to self isolate a few weeks ago durung his phone call and then told her to go into Sheilding. She's been at her boyfrinends the last couple of weeks as I dropped her there when I needed to do some stuff in town and didn't want her with me and at risk. .It;s brought her anxietys and agoraphobia back. BF has been working from home 100% recently as he's able to his NHS work remotley. The cats are there to distract her and keep her spirits up.Big problem at the moment is the Public Health England Letter to those in the Extremely Vulnerable category did not arrive here cut off date for receiving it was Sunday. Not via post or email so neither she nor I ( over 70 with underlying health problems ) can access priority supermarket deliveries. We've never used online deliveries so not regular customers and everything I've looked up says the supermarkets need the info form PHE to take orders.I've only been out myself twice in the last couple of weeks for food and a bank visit ~ I needed to do a transfer from my account to another and no longer bank online. Phone banking wasn;t working and no info online. Ir was a new young guy in the bank , I'd already spoken to the customer services manager when I went in as I keep a lowish daily limit on my current account after the massive hit on my credit card which put me off online banking. She told me it was fine and to do it at the desk. Cashier was so busy giving me a tongue lashing for coming to the bank he mucked up the transfer. That money sat in my account until the following Sunday when the phoneline customer service come back. I actually got a young woman only 17 miles away on the phone who looked and saw he hadn't done the final click to send the payment through. She sorted it and has set up a mandate I can use on the phone in future. So no local bank for me for a while thankfully.Surgery phoned Thursday. seems Superdoc is self isolating. Offered the option of speaking to a locum but only problem at the moment is not being on the list and that's not their problem. Sorted monthly meds and any extras needed and they've been sent through electronically to the pharmacy.PPC renewal finally arrived Saturday so need to register at the pharmacy as the other ran out a few days before the meds were due.I've been phoning the pharmacy to check the prescriptions have gone through but for obxious reasons they aren't responding to calls. I know the shop is closed but our Boots is showing Pharmacy is open. Need to queue outside observing social distancing.Just trying to figure out what shopping I need and a meds handover. I feel ok myself but haven't seen dd since I left her at her boyfriends. He's been doing small shops in his village and showering having decontaminated everything including shopping and post.Still in my Jammies after my stints on the phone. Will have to head out shortly but it;s freezing and not very tempting.I just wish things were clearer. The letter from the PM is going to every household. It;s been online for the last couple of days so I'd have preferred everyone at high risk would have the info the supermarkets need to allow new customers to order.I'm going to make my porridge ~ running low now so will need to see if there's any left instore now.Hope all here posters and readers are ok. I'll be back later today hopefully. Take care all and if you're reading maddie thanks again for tracking down the Stormy Weather shawl pattern.Wolfy and husband, AOT. WCS and so many others I hope you're ok. Give a wave if you're not up to posting and take care.pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

My god Polly - youneed to get hold of your local councillor or MP and moan like hell about the supermarket thing. I finally gor through to Sainsbug - we arent getting that letter up here we just have to notify the supermarket ourselves- so I got through and they said ok you're registered and will receive an email to confirm. Well that was about a week ago lol and surprise suprise no email. But I've been logging in and out at random times and there are sometimes delivery slots come up. But that's probly cos we quieter up here. I registered with Morrisons too and am getting my first delivery from them this Sat. I've never spent so much money in my whole life on food as I have this last couple of months!!It is afecting everybody's health and energy. Nobody seems to know what they are doing, the companies are making things up as they go and everything is a guddle. I dare say it will settle down and I've got to the stage of switching off mentally and walking away from it now. Trusting that when I come back then it will be clear - and so far it has worked.Dying to get started on the garden as I think this whole year will be one of food shortages and I want to get some veg in asap but still too cold up here yet. How are you today Polly and I wish WCS would come in and post.4

Polly, just happened to breeze through here, attracted by Mar/Ming's words of wisdom
Boots have delivered my medicines here, they are one of the few nationals actually being helpful. Perhaps they would deliver for you. I haven't been able to access a grocery delivery, as we aren't on the government list of vulnerables either. Lucky to have had a good storecupboard, though it needs refilling now.

How are you today Polly and I wish WCS would come in and post.Mar I'm afraid our local MP is of the much use as a chocolate fireguard variety. The local news is full of his not responding to emails, letters etc from constituants. He's known as the invisible man. There's only ever been Liberal then LibDem or Conservative though history as MPs here. Both groups spend their time bad mouthing each other and any decent councillors don't stand a chance.Morrisons would probably be a good choice. We're doing the research but in his breaks from work I think dds boyfriend will have to be the one on the internet or phone waiting for the slot. I've spent years hanging on the phone , emailing back and forth and sometimes going in person to sort out many things and think it's time to pass this one to him.I agree with you about the effect on health and energy. After calling the pharmacy over and over again it's obvious they're overwhelmed. I did manage to finally get the practice manager at the surgery on the phone late this afternoon. There was some confusion if and where the electronic prescriptions were sent. She checked and they'd noted they needed to go to our usual pharmacy after they were sending them to a different branch so they went to our regular one last Thursday. The pharmacy were supposed to let us know when they were ready to collect but didn't.I checked online and they were showing open until 3.30 however shop was locked with shutters down at 3pm.Everywhere was closed. However I walked through to SBs and they were open. Only a few customers and brilliant, clear social distancing unlike many haphazard squares , triangles etc. They didn't have pasta which seems to be the holy grail. However toilet rolls from four to large packs. Twin boxes of tissues , sugar and many things that are difficult to find elsewhere.I'm going to have a break tomorrow and will go to the pharmacy early Friday..How is the RV doing now? You've certainly had a lot to deal with. It was sad to see all the bedding plants that will go to waste. I start a lot of veg etc from seed but do sometimes buy young veg plants when energy levels are low. It's still very cold here although we're promised some warmer days at the weekend. I usually get tomato plants from local growers but it looks as though that wont be happening. Homebase used to sell large pepper and chilli plants cheaply but sadly no longer exist. At least I have compost, seeds and starter trays of pots. Lots of spring bulbs and plants in flower in the gardens near SBs so Spring is on it's way. I haven't even had a look around the back garden but I expect the tiny lemon primroses rescued from railway ballast in Wales will be starting to flower. I can still picture my son and late husband rescuing them when the steam railway line was being extended. Many years ago but still flowering . They've been divided up and shared around the family and flower on the anniversary of my 1st husbands death. each year so we feel him still here.pollyxxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Ah that's lovely Polly, I like that. The primroses I mean. I usually buy plug plants on ebay but this year I think they will be scarce and/or dear. I've been given a lot of seeds, they came today but the soil is freezing still, need wait a bit yet.RV much better recently, the fast heartbeat was fixed by us deciding to cut his thyroxine and go onto decaf tea. The GP agreed and things have settled down.4
