Another request to keep the green format. The blue is awful, and gives me a headache within minutes.
And please, please, test, test and test again and ensure absolutely everything is functioning precisely as it should before unleashing it on us.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Indeed two member who were good friends had their accounts suspended because they were both logging in from the same address , they were asked for additional ID to get it sorted.
Could be tricky as there are definitely husband & wife posters on MSE, including some of us who actually met our spouse through the forum:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

what's all this green & blue?
I only use this site on desktop as on mobile it's not good. I prefer using desktop anyway so would want a desktop option & feel it should be made with the intent of most user primarily using it on desktop (i mean who is making a long post on mob?)
currently it is a little dated but nothing major.
one thing i hate is having to click on the little bubble at top left then going to replies & then it shows some things but then there is another option to see all subscriptions. I've been on other forums & there is single "subscriptions" link at the top that takes you to all your subscribed threads that way you can see if anyone has replied.
like & thank you mean different things so maybe sort that out.
on mobile i can never get the quote feature to work0 -
Would it not have been a good idea to ask maybe a couple of thousand folks to volunteer to do a survey so you could ask what people who use the forum regularly would like or not like?
As usual our opinion counts for nothing
I bet there would be LOTS more folks who would say leave things alone than would say change it all again
I agree "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
And as many before have said the last update was too harsh on the eyes, I also use the old green format, so a large number of us will still be converting back

Can you please design your user interface to be accessible and inclusive by for example considering those with visual impairments like dyslexia.
Hopefully it should be standard practice but some people find commonly used software is implemented badly through the use garish colours, lack of contrast and so on.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Why not? MSE Martin hardly ever even posts on this place anymore, and I can fully understand why.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
The "frustrating bits" are the small number of trolls who now rule these boards with their multiple AE accounts, and I'm sorry, but a new platform is not going to address that one little bit.
If you are determined to keep this forum open, then I say invest the money in some proper, experienced forum moderators who will identify the real issues and boot the trolls and all their multiple AE accounts off. (and stop them creating new AE accounts to just resume where they left off when someone does actually PPR them)
People doing this part time, responding the best they can to alerts, and only then only having the time to review the individual post being reported, is not working.
This is not a criticism of those carrying out the task currently, who I am sure are doing the very best they can with the limited resources they are given, but a critisicm of those asking them to carry out the task without realising the enormity of the job if it is to be done properly.
Take a look at the recent, numerous posts on Trustpilot about how this site has rapidly deteriorated in recent times to see I am not alone in how I feel. 2.3/5

Personally I'm still using the old green skin as the features of that are fine. It has sensible options such as ability to go to latest unread post on a thread, and I can zoom it to whatever level I want on my phone or PC (whereas the newer skin I can't zoom out on mobile, only zoom in - there is a lot more scrolling involved).
If 'best in class' features are retained or added - rather than the new software being an excuse to show us more adverts or move us to a tapatalk app etc - then that's OK with me. We all know there are a variety of ways to structure discussions which other sites implement differently.
For example with something like Reddit, a reply to a reply can go off on a different 'branch' to create a whole discussion 'tree' and sub-debates within a thread - rather than traditional vbulletin forum software linear list of posts where people need to quote the post from ten posts earlier to make it clear which bit they're replying about. But a broad tree of comments means that some useful twigs at the end of some branches won't get seen by all.
There are certainly some forum sites with examples of the user community being seriously annoyed with a restructure or functionality change that alienates users. The users are what makes the site, so should be kept onside where possible. Unfortunately having a large portion of the community having an attitude of 'I don't want change' or 'I am a pensioner who's been here a few years, why would I want to learn a new system or layout at this stage of my life', means you are always going to ruffle some feathers whatever you do.0 -

It's just us old timers who only use the forum on desktop or tablet don't like the style you're using, even if it is more mobile friendly. Here's what it looks like at post 67:

I've tried the style you're using (blue) several times and come back to the old skin. Oddly this (blue skin) is just an issue with MSE as I am on dozens of forums for various things which don't annoy my eyes.0 -
One thing I do find mildly annoying is when on phone in portrait (blue), you can't see which sub forum a thread is under.
You can't quote or edit without turning phone to landscape either. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
