Just do it! The only thing that is really important on a wedding day is the relationship between the two main players....good luck with the plans.0

HI ya,
Just wanted to send you hugs xx
My DH and I were together for 9 months before we got married, the whole wedding cost £1000! But what mattered to us was that we exchanged vows with close family and friends with us. It's our 12th anniversary in January and although the wedding was important it's things we've done since then that have been important.
I think you both need to decide what you want, compromise and do what's right for the 2 of you only. Don't worry about wedding it will fall into place.

It is quick, but I've been going through hell for the last 4 months without him and we've both decided it'll be easier together. That way I can support him after a bad day and he can support me. 24th is our anniversery, so not too near valentines day. I'm beginning to get excited already-sat here with a big smile on my face thinking about it

awww, that's lovely. just don't get carried away with the excitement and start your new life together with a pile of bills. one of my friends found herself paying £60 for a hankie at one point as she went along with everything the lady in the bridal shop was saying! it was only after she realised.... I think we've all got used to the over the top weddings now and they seem the norm. did you see the list of things the queen got for wedding pressies - pineapple chunks and nylons! I know it was just after the war but still when you think of what folks ask for these days...Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

No we definately won't go into anymore debt for this. He offered to pay for it all, which I thought was lovely, but I said no. As long as we pay the minimums on the cards etc then whatevers spare can go on our wedding. Selling the house will free up a lot of money, so I can use a little of that, but I will have to limit myself.
Theres so many things to think of-hadn't even considered presents yet!:heartpuls:heartpuls

Been good today and I haven't spent a thing-haven't had time! Work was manic, the last posting dates for Christmas are coming up any everyone is "panic posting" :rotfl:
OH got his package today and it made him happy, so I don't feel so guilty about last weeks spending. I checked my bank balance today though, and it was very very unhealthy  so I don't know how I'm coping for the rest of the month... Oh well, I'll find a way-at least my next pay comes early this month-Christmas eve! :snow_grin:heartpuls:heartpuls

What a couple of days I've been rushed off my feet and I'm exhausted now. Christmas sale started yesterday at work and somehow I ended up with the job of re-pricing everything in the office. I'm not cut out for the world of work! I mentioned to OH earlier that wouldn't it be great if I didn't have to work-not impressed
Oh well, I guess I'll survive!
His mum wants us to go over next weekend when he comes home to talk about the wedding. I don't think shes impressed about us trying to do it cheaply and is either going to try to talk us out of it and/or offer to pay :undecided Don't know what to think at the moment, I just want a chance to talk to OH myself before involving anyone else.
One good thing about being this busy is you don't get a chance to spend:heartpuls:heartpuls

well done on the non-spending. would you let MIL pay? a lot of people do but my worry would be her trying to take over.Mortgage OP 2025 £6200/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

She'd love to take over I know that much. My mum won't want to be too involved though, so it might be ok. At the end of the day that decision is with OH. If he wants to I can cope with MIL because her hearts in the right place. I know whatever we do I'll be happy because we'll be together.
God, how soppy am I!:heartpuls:heartpuls
