Well i don't know about you but i don't owe anything to anyone - i'm keeping well away from the sentimental side of it.

I agree that OP has been very stupid, is looking at being away from his young family and hopefully will learn his lesson.

He has 1 small child and will soon have a new baby (albeit he may not be there for that). Do we not owe it to two innocent children to try to help OP do what he can to support his family? I don't get the impression he is asking us to buy his house for him, just to let his children carry on with as little disruption as possible. This is fair enough from their point of view.

Dont owe anything, why should we ? If the father decides to act in the way he has, it's his decision as are the consequences for his family, why should society be expected to pick up the tab ?

We do owe something to innocent children. Unhappy children are more likley to grow up and get into trouble. The OP knows hes done wrong.

The OP knows he has done wrong as he knows in the past he has done things wrong, bit of a theme emerging, so why does society pick up his pieces, I owe him and his kids nothing.

Regarding unhappy children growing up and being more likely to get into trouble. where does that come from ? So if I was an unhappy adult which clearly I am not as I am a happychappy, does that mean I am more likely to get into trouble ?

Cant people just be born bad and stay bad, but maybe happy as well ? Now there I can stick my hand up, or should it be my fingers, coz Im bad ?

Oh behave the lot of you!

Jamie has seen the consequences of what he has done and do you not think that the realisation that he may not see his family for 3 years apart from on prison visits has just hit him ('scuse the pun) rather harder than actually being in prison???

Jamie, go and see NACRO and the CAB - the RBL and SSAFA have just announced a major project to help those who are serving and are ex servicemen. The project is worth over £5m so they should be able to refer you to a specialist in short order.

Whatever the outcome, good luck with it.

What a waste of £5 million  this should go to victim support and CICB to pay the victims out for the results of characters like this, you seem to worship and support, what a strange world this is.

Maybe those of us who think we can offer practical advice to help his family could be left to do so while leaving the rights and wrongs of what he did out of it?

The place for a discussion on how money should be spent within the Criminal Justice system and how the government wastes money is elsewhere.

Anybody know what the situation is financialy when someone goes to prison?

I'm going back to court just after Christmas from a GBH charge (sounds bad I know) and am expecting the worst. Was just hoping if somebody knows about the money side of stuff on here especially about mortgages and benefits?

I'm 27 and I have a mortgage for a year - I work as a electrician and earn a decent ammount - used all my savings for the deposit on that. I have a 4 year old and a second boy on the way in 3 months. Now if I'm not earning there won't be anything to pay the mortgage with. I don't want to lose the house so id there a way around this. Do the banks allow people to put off payments because of stuff like this?

My partner does some part time work as she is at home with our kid. What benefit is she entitled to if I'm not around? She is pretty down with everything at the moment especially with her being pregnant. I know what I did but it had nothing to do with her any my son so I just hope they won't have to suffer.

My son has a mate who is very similar to yourself. He came out of the army with a blemished record do to fighting etc. His was down to the years he's spent in NI. Anyway he also got into a similar situation to yourself in civvy street and was very lucky to get a suspended sentence. That taught him a lesson and sorted him out. He now is in a settled relationship with one child and one on the way and hasn't been out fighting since then. I wish you luck and I hope your sentence is as lenient as I'm sure this will have opened your eyes just the same as it did him :) As well as that making provisions for your family 'just in case' shows that you are not a bad person. :)
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
It is not illegal to open another persons mail unless you intend to commit fraud - this is frequently incorrectly posted:)
    I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p
  • nothing to do with wrongs or rights, and i am sorry i cant offer any advice, i just want to wish Jamie the best, and hope his family isnt too effected. Likewise i wish the same for the victim of this and hope everyone can move on.
