Electric cars could be charged in 10 minutes in future, finds research
But, but, but, the TM3 at a V3 supercharger, and I accept that these are only now being rolled out or upgraded, can already add 200 miles in 10 mins, or TBF a long range TM3 can, if the battery is depleted enough.
The comparison to a TMS is a bit cheeky, since they have an older battery tech, and that 80% figure is much more than 200 miles, so the article has mixed together a number of terms/comparisons.
But, all my waffle aside, faster charging battery technology is of course a good thing.
BEVs are getting there much faster than I was expecting. I’m still not ready to take the plunge yet, preferring GA’s hybrid, but for the high miler or company car driver I do see the appeal.
Once a 300 mile range EV drops to around £10k on the used car market, a whole new load of people will want to come on board, including me.Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -

Yes the Ceed was a turbo model, with go faster colouring, but that doesn't work, or at least it didn't improve the performance of my first car, and that had the infamous 'Screaming Chicken' across the hood, and about 100m of gold trim.
Mad I say, mad, the whole World has gone mad.
You could try a cheaper model in the range: Ceed £14,416, Rio £10,535

I think you've completely forgotten about the existence of destination chargers.
No I think I've said many times we either need very very fast super chargers at a few points (eg every petrol station) or millions of slow chargers everywhere.
While home charging is as cheap as 5p a unit super chargers and destination chargers are closer to 15-30p a unit0 -

We are just about starting the first cycle of BEV deployment
It will take at least 2 more cycles to go mainstream so at least another 10 years
Perhaps by 2030 half of new sales can be BEV or hybrid
Of course that still means the vast majority of the stock will be ICE
My best guess is
20% BEVs mostly premium end
60% plug in hybrid for the middle
20% pure ICE for the low end (don't see BEVs taking the sub £10k market any time soon)0 -
Is there a "Toyota Ceed" ? Kia make a Ceed and it would be a bit unusual for two different manuafacturers to use the same name.
There'll all Kia's mate. Realised why I got confused last week, as the Kia showroom shares the carpark for the Hyundai dealer next door.
I do like the look of the Niro, probably suitable for all our needs. Just need to wait 3-5yrs for an eNiro to depreciate enough for us to afford.
Regarding similar names, Ford are now showing their humorous side having blocked Tesla from going full SEXY, by arguing that they locked down the 'E' last century. Now they've announced the name of their upcoming BEV as the Mach E (though it might change).BEVs are getting there much faster than I was expecting. BMW have realised that the Rex can’t compete with the concept GA hybrid and have canned it. I believe it's nuclear powered and one third the cost of a Rx i3.
That’s the one I am waiting for. Why don’t the car manufacturers exhibit the imagination and foresight displayed on this forum?Northern Lincolnshire. 7.8 kWp system, (4.2 kw west facing panels , 3.6 kw east facing), Solis inverters, Solar IBoost water heater, Mitsubishi SRK35ZS-S and SRK20ZS-S Wall Mounted Inverter Heat Pumps, ex Nissan Leaf owner)0 -

We won't though. You've said 50% of people can't charge a car at home. How many of those people don't even a car?! So how many does that leave? Charging for an hour during the weekly shop would be enough for many. And yes, there should be a premium for public rapid chargers, otherwise everyone would be on them. They cost money to install and maintain, remember.BMW have realised that the Rex can’t compete with the concept GA hybrid and have canned it
